Pain in pelvic bone opposite side to hip replacement

Posted , 5 users are following.

I am now 15 weeks post op from a total hip replacement ceramic on ceramic. The hip is great and I

am almost pain free and have got back nearly a full range of movement. However my pelvic bone on the opposite side ( it must be a muscle just behind it) is giving me agony and I have had the pain for 10 weeks now.I feel it when I get up from a chair and start to walk. Almost feel I need to go back to a walking aid. Spent a fortune on physio and acupuncture which helps the lower back pain but nothing helps the pain on the pelvic bone.

Has anyone experienced this or can shed any light on it I would be most grateful.

Hi Moira, that's annoying..I never experienced the pain you are getting only the usual lower back ache which has gone completely now at 6weeks PO.. heat can sometimes relieve muscle aches,I used one of the bags you heat up in a microwave and it worked for me..

you have been putting up with the discomfort for a long time now maybe it is time to see your GP?

Wishing you the very best for a speedy solution and recovery..keep us posted..

So sorry to hear of your pain and so amazed you found someone to do ceramic on ceramic!

      Who did your operation?

I am having to find £11,500  ( that i do not have) just to get a ceramic hip as my NHS surgeon does not believe i am intolerant to metal and especially Nickel which is present in most metal hips. I can only suggest you look in to EFT

(tapping) and try kineseology to help you in this next stage and remove the pain. Keep in touch.

My operation was done by Mr Singer in Perth, Scotland.

he decided I was young enough at 66 to be able to return to playing tennis and country dancing and ceramic would not wear out so quickly.

Is your pelvic bone pain felt in the front, or in the back?

is it deep inside your butt cheek, or where is it exactly?

Hi thanks for replying.  The pain is just inside the bone on my pelvis which is just under my waist. It does not travel into the butt cheek but is painful to touch and also when I move my leg over the mid way point of my body.

I have the same pain in the same place now 10 weeks post op.  Have you found anything to relieve it yet?  I would be pleased to know.

I think it is do with a centimeter leg length difference.  Am about to try a heel raise on the side that is giving me bother as it is now shorter than the other side. Will try it for two weeks and if no better will have to think of something else.  Spent a fortune on acupuncture and physio.

Thanks for the suggestion Moira.  I am going to see my GP on Wednesday and will ask her to measure my leg length and see if that might be the answer.
