Pain in ribs

I have been diagnosed with RA and yesterday I suffered severe pain around the bottom rib on the left hand side. In fact it was quite debilitating and I felt really unwell. At first I thought I may have a pulled muscle but when I look back I hadn't really done anything to warrant that. Today the pain is less severe but it's still there and worse when I breathe in. I've read about RA affecting the sternum but was unsure about an individual rib. I would be grateful for any help.

    Hi again matron. i have had exactly the same and sometimes it is dreadful. The rheumatologist ordered a scan of my abdomen including spleen but it revealed nothing so I am, unfortunately, still nonethewiser regards this pain. At first it was too much to cope with but now i just ride it out. I will ask rheumy again though next month what she thinks could be causing it x

      Thank you sandy. My first appointment with the rheumatologist isn't until February. Have to admit the pain was severe and I just couldn't do anything yesterday apart from take my analgesics!
