Pain in right, to the rear but gallbladder removed?

Posted , 4 users are following.

Hi guys. I had my op almost a month or so ago now and after some complications I seem to be on the mend however lately I find if I eat bad or get a bit of indigestion I get an ache sort of in my back almost behind where gall bladder was took from?

Is it indigestion or could I still have a stone floating around.

Your thoughts would be appreciated

    Hi

i am 18 months post op and I get an ache If I eat very fatty or rich foods. I have read up on it and it seems to be our livers being put under strain to produce bile as we no longer have our gall bladders storing ...I also read we are prone to getting fatty livers if we are not careful .. So I avoid fat and occasionally when I do eat too much I get the gnawing ache in my right side of my back ..

    Hope that helps

      Hi Sally.

Oh that makes a lot of sense thanks for that. I'll be sure to watch what I eat I don't fancy that.

Bad that docs don't tell us all this after op.

      Thanks for your response

Hi Sammie, I have a very similar thing. I am  nearly 8 weeks post op. My blood tests are showing  inflammation and my dr is questioning a stone. I am waiting for a scan but goodness knows how long that will be. I have had a discomfort ache in my right side and at the back for well before my Gb op. The last two days it has got more painful. I have been trying to work out what triggers it. I think it may be after eating. I am eating very bland things and taking it very easy still. It has taken me a while to slowly begin to eat more normal things so you might find that some foods are harder to manage. I cant tolerate meat very well yet unless it is blitzed up in gravy then i find its ok in small amounts. MY dr said to go very easy and only eat very light stuff and gradually re introduce foods in one at a time so may be try to watch what your eating to see if it helps. It is still very early days for you. Please let me know how you get on and if i find out any more ill do the same.

Thanks Jane. I am petrified of them saying I have a stone there still the thought of more surgery scares me! I am going to watch what I eat, when I do well at slimming world I have no adverse feelings or pains so maybe I am just overwhelming my body with fat or rich things it can't cope with.

Hope you get on ok keep me updated x

    How are you feeling now?

I had a complicated removal operation too and nearly died.

I recovered well and then was fine for a year.

The past year though has been awful.

I'm not awaiting surgery to have a post operative mass removed from this gallbladder site.  They think it might be a gallbladder remnant.  I first felt it a year after surgery but it was dismissed as being psychosomatic.  Only this year when I've been so poorly that it's been investigate properly.  It' been a long drawn out affair.  I agree that they don't tell you what to look out for etc.
