pain in the left side

i have this serious bad ache/pain in my left side especially when i cough more so when since i was diagnosed with stage 3 copd and was wondering whether to ring 111 or go straight to the hospital

    Hi Jackie, Since I Pulled My Ribs With My COPD, My Nurse Has Put Me On Carbocisteine To Ease My Coughing Sputum, And It Works

    Hi Jackie I am glad you got it sorted.   One lesson you have to learn thoroughly is to take your lungs seriously - I am not saying you don't but if you are unsure if there is a problem then seek immediate help as it is better to be safe than sorry.  Ok? 

    My doctor told me it is much better to see them and they would much rather I did than not, even if there is no problem.   I am in the UK but don't know where you are.   Take care of yourself love.  Bev xx

      hi hypercat thank you for your reply and that lesson is constantly on my mind like ive said ive made an appt to see the copd nurse on the 2nd june and hopefully get more info than what i was given when first diagnosed with this disease so hopefully i will know where i stand then 

      like you im in the UK and i have family that seem to worry about me than i do but thank you and i will do my best to get a better lifestyle

      Good for you Jackie - go for it.  You have to be proactive. 

      I remember feeling absolutely dreadful a few months ago.  I couldn't walk more than 20 yards before having to stop and bend over trying to breathe and felt so ill I thought I was dying.  

      I didn't realise it was so bad until I went outside so didn't have an appointment with a doctor but decided to go and ask to see someone.  I was told by 2 young receptionists (sticking their pert little noses in the air) that the emergency dr was out and they didn't know when she would be back,  trying to put me off waiting and obviously just hoping I would meekly go away.

      So I said forcibily 'I have copd, I feel very ill and I will wait to see her no matter how long it takes'.  They then said 'oh she has just got back'  and ill though I was I had a very strong urge to deck them both in their pert little noses!    I got in and apparently had a severe chest infection. 

      If they had still refused I would have said I am going to ER and will tell them exactly how I have been treated here.  

      Don't give up fighting for your right to have treatment and information love.  Bev xx

      thank you for your reply and it was all because i rang 111 that i got the info i needed and then got a telling of by my gp even tho i did tell them that i had copd then got questioned on what stage i am by my gp i got angry and said if you read my records you will find that out for yourself then they decided to send paramedics out 

      what aggravates me more is that there is no communucation between the people who are supposed to care for your welfare

      Good on you!  Personally I'd be calling an ambulance with those symptoms, but then we're fortunate in Australia that they're free for people on government benefits.
