Pain mostly top jaw, lower jaw and tongue

About 2 years ago I had a root canal done on my top left side. The dentist left only a temp crown because I would experience random pain. After X-rays a few times he couldn’t find anything wrong. So we put off putting the permanent crown. My dentist now retired and to date I randomly would have pain. About 2 months now the pain has become daily. Mostly my upper back jawline, also lower and I also feel pain on the lower and side of my tongue. WTH? If I press on my check bone toward my nose I can feel pain. I finally got myself to a new dentist. X-rays still show nothing. He wants me to see an endodontics to see if I’m fact my tooth with the root canal is the problem.  Is it possible that it is a root canal issue causing pain not only on top, but the bottom, my tongue and cheek. A friend of mine says I should see an ENT dr because when she has sinus issues she says she gets pains all over. I also currently suffer ptsd, anxiety and depression, do it makes me lean toward TMJ. However I don’t feel I grind or tense up my jaws, unless I do so unknowingly in my sleep. Anyone ever experience anything like this? Thanks in advance!!!

    Christina,

OMG I had pain in my upper gums and teeth and it would radiate to the bottom. I’m on citalopram for 15 weeks.

And I had so many side effects from this drug and I was thinking it’s from that. If I press on my cheek bone it gives me pain and my ears clog. I’ve been to Ent and dentist and they found nothing. Since all my side effects are dicipating Im hoping this one goes away.  It seems to be slowly going away. It was freaking me out a few weeks ago. I’m thinking it’s trigeminal nerve . I’m hoping it’s not.

      Hi Will

I’ve been on different medications over the years and have not had side effects. I’ve just had changes because after awhile they don’t help and or I reach the max so the medication is changed.

I’m going to an ENT and an Endodonist (not sure if I misspelt that) I’m praying one can tell me what is going on. what’s your next step? I never even heard of NT. I definitely hope you and I don’t have that. Keep me posted!!!

Hi, i started getting really bad face pain. Like ypu my upper back jaw, cheek bones, by my ears, under my ears would hurt and yes sore tongue too. I was told by an ex nurse that people who suffer with anxiety can start grinding there teeth in there sleep. Well a week or too after that my other half said that i keep him up most of night by grinding my teeth. when i ask him if ive done this before he said yes i started it a few weeks before, when my face pain as i call it started. The things anxiety do to us is shocking lol xx

    Hi bev and Christina

Have you ever thought of a mouth guard for nighttime. My dentist wants to make one for $800+, I think that’s crazy. I see them in stores and on line but never tried one. Any ideas???
