Hi all z5 weeks today and doing well but I have had a niggleing pain right on the side of my operated hip bone  and somtimes in my groin

side of my hip feels tender is this normal has anyone else got this and when will it go ??? I suppose it's surgical pain I don't know!!! Also I am sick of sleeping on my back physio said I can sleep on my operated side  which I tried but it stil feels tender and I am bit scarred of doing any damage !!

so I sleep on my back and then at some point keep my legs in tent position   So don't know if the pain in my hip bone is from sleeping like this

love to know how 5 wk post hippies are doing

Have you tried sitting up slightly when you have legs in tent position, I tend to sit up abit, I am now starting my fifth week and can just about lay on my right side which was operated on in May 2015 and exactly 6 months later the 2nd one done and yes my left hip is still tender at just 5 weeks, and I get a pain in the bum cheek, feels as if it wants to push up. I am glad to say I can walk round the house with out crutch/stick but today I walked round the town just using walking stick and of course if I have sat for a while I feel stiff and a bit painful for the first few steps, but it is all looking good xx

Hey lucite I wrote a similar situation today and I am eight weeks also i can't sleep on my side at all its really uncomfortable bordering on downright painful but some people have smaller scars mine is thirty four staples long but that doesn't account for groin and hip pain but we are all so very different and every day we heal a little bit more I am going out with my friend tomorrow it will be like being let out of prison.as long as she keeps holding me up we shall manage    Keep your chin up love we shall get there eventually

    Hi Lucite

i am 6 weeks on and couldn't wait to sleep on my side. Sleeping on my back was the worst thing for me. I could only sleep for about an hour to two hours at a time. Always woke up with terrible back ache. After 5 and a half weeks I tried sleeping on my operated side as my surgeon had told me but it was way too sore, so I tried the other side with a pillow between my legs and oh bliss. Tried again last night to sleep on operated side, managed about 30 mi  nutes but it was very uncomfortable.  I do still sleep on my back some of the time and always wake up with my knees up in tent position, it doesn't seem to have affected the healing process. We all have days when the pain seems worse than on others.

Best set wishes for your continued recovery.

    dear lucite,

hang in there girl and be patient - it will go away -

your body is repairing the damages done and needs time - new tissue etc. will be fragile and tender for a while - not to discourage you, but almost 9 months after right hip and 13 weeks left hip surgery I can still feel tenderness around/in hip bone ... I can feel the hardware in thigh as well at times - just as a reminder, I think .. groin pain same thing -

I was told about the importance of laying flat on back, completely stretched out for 20 - 30 minutes a day - longer if possible - be relaxed about it though - try it, maybe 10 minutes first - whatever s comfortable - it helps ...

try sleeping on unoperated side with pillow between knees as suggested here -

How are you doing otherwise ?????

    big warm hug

    renee

I am someone who is comfortable in semi-fetal position
