Hi, I'm new to this but I've got a really strange problem. I'm due to see the doctors soon but I am so scared that everything I say will just be dismissed as IBS (as I have been diagnosed with it years ago) - the worrying thing about it is that these pains are very unfamiliar and I have been told by someone I know who has endometriosis that all my symptoms seem all too familiar to her - and that a lot sufferers of this get misdiagnosed with IBS. Not saying it's endometriosis as I have not been tested or anything, it's jsut the misdiagnosis factor that scares me - I don't want anything to be missed!! I'm just wondering if anyone would have a clearer idea of what the hell is going on in my body if I listed all important details:

Background:

I'm a 19 year old female, healthy weight (109lbs, 5ft4) and eat an incredibly concious diet - very healthy in that department.

I am definately not stressed, I'm the most relaxed I've ever been, life has never been better! My eating, as I previously said is absolutely fine which used to be a trigger to stomach pains, bloating etc, so I highly doubt it's to do with that.

The Problem:

Generally my "IBS" (in quote marks because I'm so wary of the term) has been under control for about 2 years - not been affected for ages, about 6 weeks ago I got a throbbing pain I'd never had before, on the left of my stomach which was more of a discomfort than anything else, a bit of pressure on it helped as with most things. That night I fainted. (I do have a history of being a big fainter, but this was scary because I haven't fainted in a long time and because of the pain I'd been feeling in the day.) After that, I began to feel a bit better.

On to this week though! I woke up in the middle of the night to go to the loo, felt absolutely fine but within seconds of walking into my bathroom I got some of the worst upper abdominal pains I've experienced. I could barely walk, I lay on my floor to stop myself fainting, crawled into my other room to get some painkillers and back into my bedroom to lie on my bed. So much pain that it took me 10 full minutes to pluck up the courage to turn a little to my side to get some water and swallow the painkillers, the thought of moving was too much - even to stop the pain! Since then it's been absolute hell. Pains are constant, sometimes not as sevre as others but always there...strange thing is that they change place. I have experienced throbbing pain on the left of my stomach, upper abdominal pain, an upper abdominal empty ache, aching on the right of my stomach, sharp pains on both the left and right side near my hips and oddly enough pains in my back. The pains in my back weren't sharp, throbbing or achey, just very, very sensitive, as if someone had punched me in my kidney or on the other side and if someone constantly had their hand on the very big and sore bruise they left. Very painful. These pains switch over all the time and move around and are always a different kind of pain - but I am never without one. It makes me feel very nauseaus too. It's been about 5 days and I am so sick of not feeling well, not being able to dance with my friends when we're out because it hurts and just constantly worrying because I can't find anything remotely similar to my problems!

Other potential important information:

Very fatigued - but I have always been, especially this year as I have had the Depo injection for contraception and have been bleeding for an entire year now. It's tiring. So I'm not sure if that's part of this.

I have been known as a big fainter (first time I fainted I was 4) but this has become less regular over the years, usually it comes with an obvious reason now.

    Also, as a side note - when I would react with IBS, it was completely different pains, only upper abdominal. I'd also bloat, which I haven't really been doing throughout this. Maybe a small amount of bloating but nothing noticeable (might just be a food baby haha) although when I used to bloat with "IBS" I'd look literally about 5 months pregnant, it got scarily big.

    This pain your feeling is. Exactly what I have.

    your not going mad it really is trapped wind why else would it move around you! 

    I know as I'm writing this your not gonna believe me but the pain of trapped wind is horrendous believe me I know it behaves like this all the time the only answer is to fast even if it's only one day drink lots of water it eases the pain plain crackers if you must eat, let your stomach rest . And the nausea is chronic you think your never gonna get over it it's so bloody awfull.

    ive been convinced on several occaisions I was dying with the pain  it's so so bad.

    im not a female but I do know ovarian probes can cause similar effects if my fast and tummy rest by not eating speak to your doctor about overian cysts poss I don't know 

    sorry your going through this but try it I have same symptoms and get terrified I feel so ill and constant nausea.

      It's definately not trapped wind, everything in that department is a-okay! also no problems with stool movments (sorry to get all toilet talk now haha) my body seems so healthy from the outside and the way its working it's just all these crazy crazy pains that change all the time! Although I love your suggestion of fasting - I'm a very clean eater anyway but I've got the doctor this thursday so before then I might try ease the pain through fasts and any other methods - thanks for replying!!

    Sounds like something maybe inflammed or an infection. Doesnt sound to me like IBS at all really. If you say you have the ibs under control I would head straight to a doctor or even a and e if i were you. That much pain and passing out is not a good sign, 2 years ago I fainted after being in incrediable agnoy and they rushed me into theatre thinking it was my appendix, but it wasnt it was some infection that was plaguing my pelvis and reproductive organs. They dont know no whether I will ever be able to have kids because its all so messed up, but if they didn't catch it when they did it could have only gotten worse. Dont let anyone walk over you. You know your body and if somethings wrong.

    I hope yours isnt that serious and it gets sorted out very soon. Good luck smile

      Thank you! I'm going to push for this to get sorted. I went to the doctors last week when it just started but they couldn't get me to see an actual doctor so I got some sort of high up nurse. She's head of contraception and I've had her before, I've sent complaints about her. This time wasn't even any better - she didn't let me finish talking, spoke over me and didn't investigate the stomach pains any further. No questions as to where the pain was or if I had any other symptoms - just checked my heart and bitched at me a bit. I know something isn't right so it's annoyed me so much that she COMPLETELY ignored what I came in for!!!

      I've been having problems with contraception too, bleeding for a year straight since starting the pill/going onto depo shot, my stomach has always been my weakest spot, everything from intolerance to stress to anything else you could imagine feeling goes there. Diagnosed with a 'lazy bowel' when I was 4 - which was b.s becaus I fainted for many other reasons and my bowel is fine now - I haven't touched a laxative for about a year and a half (I used to take them nightly.)

      Your being rushed to hospital thing sound svery familiar. I was once in so much pain I went delierous, double vision, didn't really respond, world slipping away, extreme pain overtaking my body. It felt like a cramp, stitch, throb, being stabbed with a knife and every pain in one - nothing would solve it though, took loads of painkillers, tried to burp my way out, no comfy position etc, screaming and all. Eventually went to the hospital and they knocked me out, woke up a day or so later okay. Never got told why that happened though - it's very worrying that I always experience pains in my stomach, from small to big, sometimes different, sometimes the same but never explained really!!!

      sorry to put a little rant on this, you just provoked some thoughts that might help anyone else give an answer with my further info! thanks for the reply!!!

    ........ but reading further up (which i should have probably done first wink) defininatly consider the idea of trapped wind. try medication like windease or windsettlers or mallox i find works well for me. And i hope i havent worried you too much. My case was very extreme.

      doesn't worry me at all, seems quite mild in description in comparision to what I've been through before. No ultrasounds or any checks found anything - might have to go through the weird endometriosis op - camera inserted and browsing all my tummy! eughhh!
