Pain relief?

I would like suggestions on how to deal with the sores? I have been taking valtrex, but pain is taking a while to succeed and it is very uncomfortable and painful to walk. I have already been using Epsom salt. Creams? Any suggestions welcome.

lidocaine cream which the doctors can prescribe works, it numbs the area for a while, but if it's very raw and the sores are very sore then it stings like hell to put on so only use it if the sores aren't raw. if not I found sitting in a bath for a while was an easy way to get rid of the pain for a little while.

I don't know what creams you are using, but so not use hydrocortisone, it'll make it worse.

Are you in the US? Buy bactine spray, it will numv the area. I feel Vaseline helps as a protectant and prevents friction from when you walk.

I am in the Us. What is wrong with hydrocortisone? I have used it twice and it has seemed to help? Does bactine spray sting? It sounds painful.

Because it is an immune response suppressant.. The last thing you want to do. For some it had made their obs worse and I believe was a contributor to my primary being horrendous.

Nope, it does not sting.. Not me at least. I just used it tonight, cause I'm having an OB, but I use it for cleaning purposes mostly. As my obs don't really hurt anymore. This k it helps a lot.

Wow, thank you. I just thought it helped relieve the irritation a bit. I will have to check this bactine out.

It's like peroxide, but w less of a sting. I think it helps kill the virus on the surface of the skin duplication, while cleaning it and then numbing it as well. I feel like it's been great for me.

Hi, I'm in Aus but have found that the hemmaroid cream called rectinol has an anaesthetic and is made of zinc, which will coat the area and protect you a bit when you go to the toilet.  The relief after putting this on is instant.  I'm sure if you go to your local chemist and ask for a hemmaroid cream with zinc and an anaesthetic they will be able to help you, they are sold over the counter.  My other tip is when going to the toilet sit forward a bit this will stop the "run" going on to your sores and will then relieve the "peeing razor blade" feeling.  I'm getting better every day, I have found that alternating with panadol and an ibobrufen pain killer has also helped.  Good luck, try and have a read of the other discussions on here, they are full of good tips.  What may work for one may not work for another so get as many ideas as you can... and drink lots of water... valtrex can cause kydney problems so you need to keep them flushed, also it reduces the acidity in your pee and will take the sting out.
