Pain relief

Can anyone give me the names of pain relief that they have been prescribed and which works?  I am going to my GP next week and thought it may be helpful to have some suggestions.  All I currently take are pregablin (at night) and paracetomal.

    Hi Cheryl

I took Tramadol for quite a while but it wasn't strong enough for me.  The Pain Clinic eventually put me on 10mg Morphine tablets every 12 hours and 5ml liquid morphine inbetween if needed.  Unfortunately it makes you really drowsy which is not good when you're already tired but still doesn't stop the pain.  The Pain Clinic discharged me because they couldn't find what was causing the pain, even after MRI scans and x-rays.

Hope you manage to find something that works for you.  Best of luck.

Morning Cheryl, there are only two I've found that work for me: Tramadol, when I am in excrutiaing pain, and Gabapentin, for everyday use.  The Gabapentin, I take 3 times a day and reduces my pain from 'too painful to think or sleep' to 'not bad'.  But there are days that Gabapentin just isn't enough.  Bad weather, over-doing it, etc, can bring on pain that is beyond belief.  Then I use Tramadol.  Just so you know, I am very sensitive to all medications, foods, etc, so, for me, a little goes a long way.
