As anyone tried voltarol to rub on their knee.

    I am 9 weeks post TKR.  I still have lots of swelling around my knee and my ROM isn't great so I am applying it 4 times a day.  Can't say what it has done but at this point anything that might be helping at least a little bit with the swelling I am doing.  

    I was using it pre TKR to help with the pain of my knee but again I didn't notice a big improvement.  I can't take oral anti-inflammatory medication because I have had a heart attack (who knew that anti-inflammatory medication is bad for the heart...I didn't).   

    Having said that some folks swear by it.

    Voltaren Gel (RX in the US)...same thing.  Most excellent topical anti-inflammatory and pain reliever.  Started using it on my metal hip in 2009.  Constant companion.

    i have tried it but didn’t find it all that helpful.  I put it on my knee around 8 weeks post op and it burnt like *+”+ on my scars.  I find taking the Volterin pills to be much more effective.  Chico swears by it though.    I think he must have shares in the company lol.

    like everything, works for some but not others.
