Hey, I told was just diagnosed with HSV 2 it's been about 2 weeks now and my bumps are gone and I feel great as far as physically bc BAAAAAABBY that first outbreak for like 3 days I couldn't pee it burned so bad, but soaking in espom salt water help and drying the affected area with your hair dryer set on cool and low. I haven't had a blood test yet I'm going Monday but they diagnosed me from a swab test. Oh and going to the bathroom pour warm water down there as you pee it helps a lot...

Great suggestion! I found out about herpes through a swab test as well. I just had my baby 4 months ago and wished I still had that spray bottle they give to women after birth, that you put warm water in. But I managed with Vaseline and then the numbing gel

They gave me acyclovir and sent me on my way no numbing cream, they told me not to put anything on them just to let it run its course but I'm like hell no something has to give. The only time mines bother me was when I went to the bathroom, other than that no problems.

I was diagnosed with type 1 8/26/2016.. honestly the worst day of my life.. actually the worst month of my life. I had the run around with doctors no one could figure out what was going on.. turns out I had chlamydia and herpes type 1 at the same time and that was why I couldn't pee without bawling. Epsom salt will be your best friend. At the beginning I would fill the bath with a little bit of water just enough to hit my vagina while squatting and then I would pee in the tub that way your stream isn't going everywhere hitting the sores... also I didn't have any sores at the front just mainly at the back of my vagina and butt so I would sit on the toilet and reach my hands down and hold the backs of my ankles that way the scream is only hitting the front. Also filling the bath with just enough water to cover load that sucker up with Epsom salt and try to stay in there for as long as you can when drying off only dab the area lightly and then take a blow dryer on the cool and low setting to dry the area you do not want to leave it wet! Tea tree oil irritated mine so personally I don't recommend. Try sleeping with a pillow between your legs to keep air flow in that area and avoid sugar or any unhealthy food!! That one is huge your diet is number one you have to help your body fight this thing. those are just a few things I've learned with having this and you have to try to stay positive and know that the outbreak will end soon!!

Hi, I was diagnost with HSV-1 about 2 months ago,

When I had my first outbreak, I was basically bedridden for a week, i couldn't even walk without pain.

But no matter what you need to keep the area clean. I made sure i washed when i first woke up, and before i went to sleep.

    1. extra strong pain killers - I buy over-the-counter ibprofen with codine tablets, work a treat.

    2. sleeping pills to help you sleep through pain like a trooper (at night).

    3. microwave heatpack - during the day i would lay a warm one over my entire area, and at first it was uncomfortable from the pressure, but the heat really does wonders. I DO NOT MEAN HOT THOUGH. dont burn your junk.

    4. sleep naked. helps air get to the ulcers and blisters.

    5. keep soaking in that bath, helps keep it clean cause the gross puss you cant wipe away just falls off usually.

    6. vaseline is your best friend, once the area is clean, it helps keep it clean, and also protects the wounds from being touched, either by clothes or by your... flaps. also i found it made walking easier. OH also, helps to pee, cause its protecting to wounds from getting covered in pee. not 100% but a good 80% success rate.

    7. dont ever listen to these bitches on here suggesting tea tree down there. dear god. trying it myself was the dumbest thing ive ever experiemented with, and didn't help the healing, and made the pain worse - its instead good for the coldsore wounds. painful. but works.

    8. numbing cream. so, I was diagnosed in a sexual health clinic thing, and they refused to prescribe anything to help the pain saying that numbing creams are dangerous in large quantities - Pharmacy wouldnt sell me anything without a prescription. I went to emergency department in the hospital who gave me Lignocaine 2% gel and basically said go nuts. oh my god, this gel literally was my salvation and i used it sparingly for the rest of my outbreak until i ran out (mainly before i went to pee, or rare times of if i needed to leave my house) - I now have over the counter "Numit 5% cream" which is "Lidocaine (Lignocaine) 2.5% w/w" - I'm no science major so I'm hoping this works the same when i need it to. ALSO, apply with clean disposable rubbler gloves.

    9. DO NOT FORGET YOUR MEDICATION - stops the outbreak in its tracks, doesn't heal it, but stops more forming.

Personally, i wouldnt recommend using sanitary towels for the discharge, cause that added friction is just unneccsary to healing the woulds - I instead just went commando, wearing loose fitting clothes (which for me was a bodycon dress - cause it was comfy and couldnt flash people cause it doesnt move in the wind), and carried spare underwear (when i had to go out in underwear).

Also wouldn't recommend using antiseptic creams - i tried them, they make the pain SO SO SO SO much worse. they're probably useful in helping heal the wounds, but oh my god, the pain is intense.

In terms of peeing, I had a system of many steps, that helped.

okay, so the numbing gel works 100% for peeing, but i was using it sparingly, so i didn't use it all that much for peeing (or if i did, tiny tiny amounts, then put vaseline everywhere).

    my steps were:

    1. cover area in vaseline, and i literally mean everywhere.

    2. heat up my heatpack ready, to soothe the area after.

    3. i used 2 pieces of neatly folded kitchen towel - one dampened completely in warm water, the other in freezing cold.

    4. so i read some girl had success peeing at an angle, so i found my angle, which is a standing kinda of squat, leaning enough forward that the pee would fall either straight into the toilet, or would run down flaps that are not covered in wounds.

    5. when i could bare touching the area, i would also try to hold open the flaps cause that reduces the pain of the pee touching anything.

    6. straight after peeing, i experienced pain, but far less pain than trying to pee like a regular person, so i would put the warm paper towel over the area to soothe, and wipe (but dont literally wipe), then the freezing cold one for the same reason - Although the order of cold and warm one changed each time. The cold one helped the best straight after peeing.

    7. heatpack straight on!!!!!!!! literally. helped get rid of the pain or make it more bareable.

I hope this helps you in anyway.

sorry for the long post, i just wish more people gave too much information instead of dribs and drabs, when i had my own first outbreak - i had to sift through hundeds of comments on many threads to develop my own system to deal with my outbreak. if more people over shared, i think i would have felt so much better when i had it...

I've had herpes for about 18 years. My ex husband who wasn't honest about it when we met. I rarely get outbreaks, every 3-4 years because I've learned what to do to stop it. The best thing I've found for genital pain is Melissa/ lemon balm (Melissa officinalis L.) Grocery stores like Walmart usually have a cream that contains it, its sold for cold sores. You can also buy it online. Melissa has been studied for herpes and is proven to decrease symptoms as it reduces the replication of the virus.

I also drink a tea that will very quickly relieve the flu like aches and pains called chamomile lavender. It contains the lemon balm/ Melissa. I will drink 6-10 tea bag cups a day when I get sick (I'm a very small person). I feel myself get better after the first cup. It's been miraculous. Even my boyfriend drinks it as a preventative.

Well I went in to the doctors on Wednesday had my regular check up and asked the doc if I had a bad yeast infection cause signs and symptoms matched the research I had done she said she saw nothing but welcomed me to my monthly

Two days later on Friday in excruciating pain I returned with a photo I begged someone to take

Doc called me back and asked me if I had ever had shingles I said yes lots plus I had chicken pox twice she said to me that she wasn’t sure but would order blood test

I left with only a script for acyclovir but because of many other medical conditions I happened to have lidocaine 5% solution which seems  to help a bit

Praying they find a cure for all of us

I wouldn’t want even my worst enemy to hurt like this
