Pain starting back up after 2 yrs

Posted , 8 users are following.

2 yrs ago I had total right hip replacement and was pain free and keep own starting to have severe pain while standing still cooking or doing dishes. If I sit back down pain subsides. Has this happened to anyone else and what was the cause?

Hi, Raul. I think that severe pain is always a signal to see a doctor for diagnosis and treatment. What comes to my mind as I read your post is that whatever is injured is a muscle/tendon/ligament - something - that is involved in the work of holding your body steady as you stand. An orthopedist should be able to pinpoint that for you.

Where is your pain? Does it continue while you are walking or only when you are standing still? Are you doing any kind of exercise that could have caused it or is making it worse?

I have torn gluteal tendons that perhaps never healed when they were cut for my THR 8 months ago, or I could have reinjured them somehow. I have pain/stiffness on standing and walking, but feel only a dull ache when sitting down. Mine are bad enough that they require surgery to repair, and I am seeing a new orthopedic surgeon who will do the job.

    Hopefully you will heal quickly!

Thank you AnnieK, the pain is in my right hip and if I bend over

and stretch the pain subsides some. Yes the pain is still there while walking just not as severe. I do not remember doing

anything different than I normally do.

Well, Raul, you could always try icing and elevating and resting to see if it makes any difference. Would probably be a good idea to check with your surgeon or regular doctor if it continues.

    Hi Raul,

warm welcome to our hippies forum ...

I agree with Annie that you better make an appointment with your surgeon or GP especially the way you describe the pain ...

just make sure that everuthing is okay with hip protheses , maybe check for infection ... don't want to scare you but better safe than sorry --

please let us know what you are going to do, okay ?

    take care and

    big warm hug

    renee
