Pain under right ribs, no pain when touching.

For over 3 months I've had this pain. I went to the doctor, they didn't do any tests, but they think it's costo. However, I've been looking online and it says that if it's costo, you're supposed to feel pain when you touch or press the area. My pain is in the right side, 1 or 2 inches to thte left of my right nipple. However, it only hurst if I move, streatch and breathe. If I don't move it doesn't hurt. I don't have any other symptoms, no coughing, no fever, no weakness, just that disconfort when movie, as if everything around that area were tight or if as if I had something wierd in there.

Costo is so very different for each individual. My sternum doesn't hurt when I'm in a flare but like you every breath I take and any movement at all is horrible! My last flare was the worst as it was actually Tietze because I had a very large swelling along my ribs. I sometimes run a low grade temp with mine due to the inflammation but not always and coughing has never been a symptom - thank goodness because coughing with Costo would be very painful! I know sneezing when I'm in a flare is not a good thing! Maybe you could ask your doctor for a chest X-ray just to make sure they don't see anything else going on and to help ease your anxiety. It's hard enough dealing with this without the reassurance that Costo is really what you're dealing with. Hope you feel better soon!

Thanks for your reply. I guess the worst for me is the anxiety, since the pain isn't that bad, unless I really stretch or turn really hard. I was just worried because I read everywhere that people could feel the pain when touching or pressing with their fingers. So, I've been thinking I could have something worse going on in there.

Hi Ive had Costro since Dec 2015. Not everyone else experiences the same pain in the same places. I sometimes have pain under both breasts or in both ribs. Somtimes it goes to my back and shoulders too. Soft ice packs, ben gay, or ibubrofin help. Have you had x rays? Blood work up? EKG? etc.  Altho theres no cure it often comes and goes, anf Thank God isn't life threatening! hang in there. Ask lots of questions to your dr and its good we all have this sight to talk to each other. Theres also special exercises for Costro you can look up, and redude sugar..inflamation feeds off of sugar.
