Pain waking up from a laparoscopy! Terrified, worried, and nervous!

I’m about to have a laparoscopy (maybe laparotomy) in about 3 weeks for a 12x12x9cm endometrioma and I am super worried about waking up in pain in the recovery room. Can anyone share their experiences with regards to a laparoscopy or laparotomy when they came to? I am prone to anxiety and it’s my first surgery so this is stressing me a lot!

I had a laparoscopy. It was my first surgery too and I was super worried but it wasn’t bad at all. I had a little pain when I woke up from the gas in my shoulder but after that I was fine. Plus, they give you pain medicine. It was a really easy procedure. Good luck and try not to worry! 😊

      Hi Shannon,

When you woke up, what was your pain scale like on a scale of 10 being really bad? And if you don’t mind what type and size was your cyst? Since I have no idea what type of surgery they’ll do for me. Did the doctors tell you that they might open you up?
