Pain when sitting.....15yrs and counting!

I have got pain when sitting. Burning pain between buttocks and rear hamstrings. Had the pain for more than 15yrs.

Makes me very down and also very very anxious as I dread sitting!

Seen doc tons of times over the years. Had creams etc. Nothing works.

He said it is stress related!! Ok, it can get worse when I am stressed but it's the pain that is stressing me.

I have many stretch marks in that area from when I used to weight train when younger (not properly!) The pain seems to be coming from the 'open' part of the stretch marks where it is 'broken skin'.

Recently the doc put me on Pregabalin. I decided to get off that as side effects not nice for me. Only 3rd day trying to come off it (75mg twice daily down to zero! Bad move due to withdrawal symptoms but I aim to persevere).

I tale Escitalipram 20mg for anxiety / depression.

Doctor sent me for blood test this week to see if anything shows up plus to check some vitamins etc. I don't eat healthy so recently started to take:

Vit B

Magnesium

Cod Liver Oil

Vit C

Tumeric

I have ordered 5-HTP too.

If it were not for my child I would not be here as pain is horrible to live with.

Doctor is useless. He thinks I should not dwell on the pain or think about it. Really!

Anyone have similar pain?

Any advice welcome. Thank you

I finally have a Doctor who is willing to consider surgery, I first noticed pain in 1998. They will have to realize my chances of losing a leg or maybe both legs is a real issue. If my nerves are to far gone or damaged severing my nerves below my knees is the only option. I am willing to wear leather boots up to my knees.

I have similar pain among other things.  Now finally diagnosed with small-fiber neuropathy, caused by Sjogren's Syndrome.  Will get immune mudulating treatment, neurologist thought would get better but not free from it.  Get another doctor that will take it seriously!

I was fairly sure that I had Sjogrens. I had a lip biopsy done due to my dry lips and have eye drops due to my dry eyes. However a blood test for Sjogrens was negative. A nerve conduction test did indicate SFN and I have all the pain!

I have been going through the same excruciating pain for 5 years!  I started getting so sick that I've almost Died 6x in last year. Countless hospital stays plus 6 or 7 ICU stays! Thought when did it start getting so bad?  I was on Gabapentin when it all started. Talk about pelvic pain and sitting plus lower abdominal wow!! When Doctor increased it last from 3200 mg per day to 3600 mg something in my brain flipped!!! For 2 years I've been brain fogged. My Daughter had to become My caretaker at 53 years old!!  Unable to even balance my electrolytes plus in 6 months the pain became so bad I wore out my adrenal glands to less than 5 percent function giving me Addison's disease!! Then something with-too much steroid and i got Cushings disease. Both are auto immune. One Doctor in I have no idea how many I've seen said let's lower that gabapentin by 2400 mg!  Thank God I didn't. It's a very slow taper but I did 1200 mg which is too much. Took a month for Me and worse withdrawals ever but I noticed pain relief!! I'm starting to get life back. Why I never noticed was I was told no over and over when questioning gabapentin. Plus same thing about it being addictive. If not dependent on it why am I now going through slow taper and Withdrawals?  Yes it's addictive!!  Then I found a intaventional radiologist!  Here is what I found. When laying for MRIs, cts or X-rays you can't see anything!  Not in your head but stress does increase pain!! A condition called PCS. Pelvic congestion syndrome. Varicous vein that should send circulation one way but it's like a broken valve and blood going both ways!! They just fix the varicous vein and pain goes away. Weak muscles possible from weight training ???  Your pelvic?!!  I think you know that when you lay down pain decreases. That's how the test is given but if sitting possible it would be seen. For Me anyway!! It's not in your head!!!  That would make Me so mad!! I'm watching everything now and no longer put all My trust in My Doctor! He goes home and I had to live this way plus if not for My Daughter saving Me from constant Pnuemonia or upper respiratory infections plus any kind of infection then I would be dead! That's a side effect of gabapentin!  My Doctor never mentioned those side effects but if You looked at Them and My medical chart... they were the same!  Common and rare!  He didn't like it when I told him that. Well if I'm wrong then why am I getting better?! Good luck and I will pray for You!  Hope you get your answers. Please don't give up!  Your cold needs you!  Sherri

Your child I meant. So if you can then I strongly recommend a intravention radiologist that specializes in pelvic problems!! I hope and pray this helps you or someone. I have back issues too but it wasn't the back!  Sherri

So Sherri, I am getting gabapentin? 3 tim1es a day or 300mg. for the neuropathy and for the sciatica they just gave me Methylprednisolone pak which I am supposed to take for 6 days. I have heard horror stories about the prednisolone and the gabapentin does not seem to be working, what are your thoughts? I also don't trust doctors anymore especially my primary care one, health care has gone downhill!

Kenny, gabapentin and these other meds for CNS terrify Me!  I'm not bipolar, don't seize or didn't but I have pain. These are more dangerous than any opiate or benzo I've come across! I've been in agony and My Doctor still refuses to credit my improvement with lowering the dosage!  He now wants me to start depakote! I don't know when They will wake up to it. It does help retain People but not everyone in pain!  If You find Yourself getting sicker with everything imagineabe than look at these meds as possible cause!if you decide to just taper off than very slowly. Your at a pretty high dose actually where you need a Doctor to help. Some people do 10 mg every 2 weeks!  I'm going to be withdrawaing forever!! What do you really think?  Please have Someone in charge of your health in case you can't speak for yourself or your memory goes!!  It's dangerous!! Never again will I be clueless about azmedication that My Doctor thinks is right for Me. Sherri

I know they had me on anti depressants like celexa, Cymbalta, Elavil and 1 other one, I don't remember the name but they made the pain much worse! I told them that I would not take another anti depressant as they are worthless!! I wish my primary care physician would get it so he knows what pain I have to go through every day and see how he likes it...

Kenny, sorry about Your pain. I'm currently taking a low dose of Cymbalta but feel the same way. I'm ready to withdraw from that too!  I'm literally so sick that I should've died and the only thing that seems to help with the pain is lorazepam because it relaxes and He won't prescribe that because... when I get older I could get Alzheimer's. Im like well at least I will live that long! Yet I will get you a pain pump placed in with all the fentanyl you need! Hell! So now I'm getting ready to get rid of that too!  Him too! I know where your coming from My chronic back pain started this from a failed surgery. Nothing has compared to the gabapentin pain in my pelvic plus that PCS. It's more the gabapentin though. off my pain med I don't even feel the back pain anymore. It's like My brain is saying to Me... that's not pain! Gabapentin is!! Lol

The doctors here won't give me anything such as lorazepam? or valium either, they say it is too addicting and at my age they are afraid I might become addicted.. That is a lot of nonsense because 25 years ago I was on valium for a back injury and was on it for about 8 years. When I stopped taking it, it was not hard at all! Doctors like to think they know everything but everyone is different. But I suppose we have to put up with those fools or look for a different one like I am doing right now. I also checked out that intraventional radiology that you mentioned and see if they will do anything for me..

Docs just love throwing tablets at people. Easy way out for them.

I was on Pregabalin for 3 months.....rubbish! Not nice when I came off them, cold turkey but glad I did.

    My pain is different.

Well just a thought. Yet if all else fails try to find a intraventional radiologist that specializes in your symptoms. Good luck! Sherri
