pain with LS?

Hi all, I've posted before on LS a few times but can't recall whether I had asked this same question .
Does anyone feel actual pain sort of like shooting pain at times and then just regular pain with vulver LS? Im not experiencing any itchiness at all, just a lot of soreness and this mild pain.
I was diagnosed 2 years ago but the pain portion is fairly new. I've been using Clob ointment but it doesn't help anymore. I have a gyno appt. next week but wondered if anyone has had pain and pretty bad soreness including the anal area.
Thanks.

Hi Carol; yes I do experience pain with LS and also wondered initially if this was "normal". The pain varies from day to day but for me is always in the same spot. At times it can be quite intense, and my gynae recommended taking pain killers as well as the usual treatments. Mostly I don't need pain killers but all the same, with the pain and the soreness, it can be pretty uncomfortable.

Hi Jeannie,
Thanks for your reply. So the gyno didn't think the 'pain' was abnormal? I don't require pain killers , it's not that bad with me, but I was thinking it wasn't normal as you initially did.

No, the gynae didn't seem to think it abnormal; just said that there were raw nerve endings which would be causing the pain. It seems to come in bouts for me, in that I can be fine for days, then this stabbing and deep pain starts and lasts for a day or so again. It does help me to read all the replies to your question as sometimes I think it's only happening to me, so in some ways it's reassuring to hear.

Jeannie, it comes in bouts for myself also.
Yes the replies are reassuring when you think you're possibly the only one .
Thanks.

Thanks Jessicat. Same here as getting the stabbing pain mostly on the vulva. The soreness is pretty intense too. I was originally prescribed Clobedasol which I'm still using but it isn't helping much at all.

Yeah I find that the clob helped my symptoms when they were really bad but it seems to have stopped helping the mild symptoms now, and it doesn't help the stabbing pain at all. I have sometimes thought that I might have vulvodydinia as well as LS, I might mention that to my doctor in my next appointment, as I was only diagnosed with LS in October so they might have missed that.

I used to have these stabbing pains, but they went. Other than maybe a result of deeper layer of fusing I have no explanation for it. As the fusing gradually disappeared I don't have these pains anymore.

I get intense shooting pains in the vulval area - not very often but when I do it only lasts a minute or two - but takes my breath away as it's so strong.

Thanks DLB. The pains I get are shooting but not really intense in nature. They last only seconds too. Still a little scary because I wasn't sure if this was a common thing or at least experienced by anyone else. I always worry about cancer.
