Pain with pheraphy

Posted , 6 users are following.

It seems, like myself everyone has severe pain with frozen shoulder 24/7. Does anyone have horrific pain during theraphy sessions. When my therapist pulls my arm back, extending it back, when lying down, the pain is horrible. I instantly get a migrane & nausea right then & there from the extent of pain. My body actually shakes. Please if I'm not the only one it will ease my mind. I am concerned that possibly this isn't normal degree of pain for theraphy. Of course they tell you everyone is different!

When doing Physio my therapist said only go to the point of pain and not beyond!

if it hurts to the point where your body is shaking then you are pushing too hard.

Yes, Katie78501 is correct. You should only work the shoulder til the point of slight to mild pain. Too much pain is not good. And too mild will mean you are not working it enough. Remember, this is long and slow and don't worry about pusing too much now.

Hi mema. I was told by my specialist and physio that you should never push your arm beyond the pain ie as soon as you feel pain stop pushing, as this only serves to agravate the shoulder and make it worse. I have read many posts and reports on line that also back this up. I would queery this with your therapist as I am certain that what you are describing is wrong for this condition and maybe you need to consider changing your therapist.

I agree you need a better, more experienced therapist. I've had a few bad pu people in my life that actually made my condition worst.  I think some of them may be sadists and at the very least don't listen to you.

Thanks everyone.  My therapist is from the netherlands & now in the states.  She has been a pt for over 20 yrs.  Last session I made her back off.  I was able to tolerate better.  I also am trying accupunture (although I don't see any result) and massage.  Massage seems to help.  Financially I probably will only be able to go for another 2 months, then I'm on my own.  I injured my humerous area in Jan or Feb.  Pain started in end March, so I began home exercise.  After 6 weeks pain & mobility got worse, so went to Dr. & PT.  So when do I say my frozen shoulder began?  Counting down the months!!! P.S.  My first frozen shoulder 2 1/2 yrs ago, I had manipulation, then 4 months physio.  I remember pain subsided substanially when Physio was over.  Hoping that is the case this time.
