Painful infection advice needed!

So I've had some kind of vaginal infection for atleast 6 years. (Yeah I know. Wow) I have a mucus like smelly discharge. Idk why I didn't get help at first but over the years Ive been too embarrassed to go to the doctor. Well the other day I got what felt like a period cramp but it got worse and worse very fast. I got light headed and started sweating and had to sit in a cold shower. I called my mom to take me to urgent care but the pain eventually stopped. Tried making a appointment with gynecologist but closest I got was Oct 4th so I asked if she could take me to urgent care tomarrow. I'm very nervous and I'm very embarrassed by how long I've had it. If the doctor asks how long I've had it I want to lie to save myself the shame but I know I probably shouldnt. Any advice?

Don't lie to the doctor. Tell him everything so he knows how to treat you.
