Painful left knee

Posted , 4 users are following.

Was running on a very uneven surface about a month ago..i usually walk but am pretty fit. Have been having alot of pain in my left knee since then..today the pain is radiating down the outer aspect of my left foot and up my thigh. I get temporary relief with anti-inflammatory medicatication. Did some dancing over the weekend and tonight  I can only bend my knee halfway. Any advice would be appreciated, thanks, Brenda

Oh goodness we can't win....I danced and exercised all my life and now at this old age trying to mop up the damage from all this.

More talk about all the baby boomers and all the exercise they are doing...ran into a friend today, older one, she said her son who did weight lifting for many years from his childhood is now dealing with a lot of damage......

A gf doesn't do heavy duty walking on the cement, she has done her best walking in the sand....and then there are all the major runners doing all their running on concrete surfaces....talk about damage...I can't watch the LA marathon when it goes down my street ....the pain of it all.   joy

Hello Joy, dancing is my passion and has helped me some very difficult times..now I'm grounded with a possible torn meniscus.. Guess my body is telling me to find a new coping mechanism eh? thank you for your comment..

Hi Brenda, What an awful thing to happen, I am so sorry. Have you seen your doctor? I can't offer any advice, only sympathy.

I think if it was me I would go to the hospital emergency.

Good luck, I hope it's not bad news

hi brenda ... have you had TKR (total knee replacement)? if not and you experiencing this amount of pain, i would say your knee is saying "enough"! you may have pulled a ligament, your meniscus may be playing up ... many, many reasons. personally, i would make sure this gets checked out as a month is along time to be swallowing meds without really knowing what is going on.

don't leave it too long -- get it checked out by a gp / specialist as soon as poss.

    good luck

hi brenda ... glad you went and had it checked out.  good luck with the mri, this will give you more clarity.  the good news is that - or so i believe - a torn miniscus can be repaired via key hole surgery. of course, this is also surgery so good luck with that and the recuperation.  it is bound to test your patience so feel free to post on here when it gets you down.
