Painful lump after incision and drainage a week ago

i had my first bartholin cyst and went to the OBGYN after severe pain when sitting, walking, even laying down and they did incision and drainage of it. i had immediate relief and was told to continue doing sitz baths and take antibiotics. i took sitz baths only once a day for the next three days and skipped a day since i was feeling so great! i then finally felt comfortable enough to feel how things were going down there and felt another lump. i did more sitz baths and called my doctor and she said it was normal and told me to continue to do sitz baths and take my antibiotics , but now I'm getting sharp pains and it hurts to sit again. should i call my doctor again or is this all normal too? its been 7 days since the I&D now ...This is all so frustrating i don't know what to do 😦

I would call your doctor again and insist that you be seen . In the past mine have closed too quickly and not completely drained . You should take multiple sitz baths a day after they lance and drain it to make sure it is completely drained before it heals closed. Have you looked at it closely is it still open and draining?

Thank you for your response. I went to the doctor and you were right it was healed closed already and not allowing it to drain more. They had to drain it again and I will definitely be doing more sitz baths starting tomorrow this time around. I don't want to go through any of this again! Did that work for you when yours closed too quickly?

Yes it helped. Unfortunately I am one of the unlucky women that had them come back every 3 to 6 months for 10 years. I had multiple lancing until I found a doctor that would do more than lance it. I had marsupialisation done twice before my doctor removed the whole glad almost a year ago which is last resort. I haven't had any issues at all since then. Good luck I hope you never have to go though it againπŸ™‚

Yikes I can't imagine having to go through it for that many years. Hopefully this isn't a sign of my future having to get it drained once a week! I am hoping it was just all the stress from this COVID-19 and soon things will be back to normal and so will my body.

I don't know much about it but try phoebe's method. Heard alot about it. I'm sure it will πŸ’― work.

You need these products to try this method:

      1. Witch hazel
      2. Tea tree oil
      3. calamine lotion

And yes Gauze pads to hold the mixture while you apply it.

It usually takes 3-4 days to rupture it.

Sorry for my bad English 😊

Just an update. I have been doing my baths every day and nothing else ever came out and i had a small lump left after my Incision and drainage so I worried that I healed too fast again . Well thanks to peoples advice on here i had bought serrapepatase and after one pill it burst again on its own! Its a miracle pill! I bet this will do the trick and at least rid me of this problem for now and hopefully it will never return! Thank you everyone!
