.............After reading about painfull AND non painfull colonoscopies............ I have a colonoscopy every year ...And i must say that for some people haveing them who say that their experience was all ok and have come out with no signs of any bowel trouble then thats good...But when you have bowel problems and i have polyps removed every time for biopsies. I had 8 last year and the year before that 14 so while there cutting away my polyps let me tell you worst pain ever i was screaming on the table and asked her to stop and she didnt i had to really shout for her to stop.. im not fully in control here she is AFTERWARDS she told me that a polyp had gone to far into the bowel wall and couldnt  get it..leave it then when i saw my surgeon i told him i was traumatised by it and when i ask someone to stop they should stop he did apologise its just a job to them ..I think they get so carried away with it they forget im a human being ...My next one i am being put right out for in july...but i will have to take 3 lots of movi prep as i start to sick it up..and i gag at takeing it....so mainly i would like to say that its what they find whilst doing the procedure and what work they have to do whilst you have a few drugs going through the canula thats the big problem thats where the majority of the pain is...all well and good if its straight forward...but for people like me they shoud ask to be put out completely as its pure torture in this day and age its disgusting.....

You poor thing.  I read somewhere you can't be knocked out completely because you wouldn't be able to tell them how bad it was and they could inadvertently rupture the bowel wall,  do be careful.   When I had my children I was given pethidine - scarcely felt a thing, it's a muscle relaxant.  I believe some people are given this for colonoscopies - worth asking!   It really is disgusting how they see some patients suffer.  Good luck with all this.  The moviprep is foul, I agree.

Thankyou margaret..After my last one and the one before they gave me the ward phone number incase my bowel ruptured when i got home.. so im thinking im probably high risk of it happening either way...Thing is if something needs removeing from the bowel they will have to take it wether it ruptures or not my polyps have turnes to adenomas now so its not something that i choose to have done its vital they dont turn into a worser stage etc ......

Hi lesley53828, I don't know if you have read my discussion on my painful time. They only found that I had a few pockets in bowel nothing else. I too was in so much pain screaming stop but mine didn't stop at all. I have been left traumatised by mine and have also written to the hospital with a complaint. I can never describe the pain that I was in, like you I feel like I had no control over what was being done to my body. I would never ever have another one.
