Painfully clicking knee on op side

Posted , 8 users are following.

Now this is weird - my knee on my operated side has suddenly started to painfully click every time I move my leg. Didn't have this (much) pre op.

Anyone got got any ideas?

Had the same thing. It would happen especially when lying down and lifting knee towards the ceiling. I'd hear click click or pop pop. It does go away however. I did find relief not only using ice but alternating with a moist wet heating pad. Just give it some time. It should resolve. Mine did

Thanks - it's good to know I'm not falling to pieces.

      I'll give the hot/cold treatment a go.

All my joints (both sides actually) seem to be realigning as I recover. It makes sense when you think that we have a new hip and our posture and gait likely (ideally) changed.

I got muscle and pain associated with these as well periodically.

Good luck to you and Susan.

Hi Chloe.....yes that is very strange....Haven't had anything like that, perhaps you need to speak to your physician about that just to make sure it isn't anything serious...Hope it goes away and you feel better....Barb

    hi chloeparrot,

I agree with Linda - I had that too post-op 1st THR - also pre-op after a physical therapy session gone wrong -

I asked if i could wear a stretch band around my knee to keep it in place but was told NO ... just take your time when you stand up and balance your body - use your crutches or rollator when walking okay - there will be weird pains and discomfort along the way ... even seemingly not hip related but it really is -

my posture was so bad and still is -  even while sitting I have to make sure I sit fully and not on one cheek , to relax my shoulders etc -

    big warm hug

When I used to go to yoga, everybody had clucky joints at some point, I think it sounds right if your body is re-aligning. But if it's painful it may be worth getting it checked out. Love Malloo

Hello chick, yep, my knee and hip where clicking quite badly for the first few weeks, I sounded like a one man band when I was walking, freaky feeling. I'm just over 5 weeks post op and still have some clicking, but it is getting a lot better. The back of my knee was the worst, very painful and clicky, especially when moving it in bed, can be quite scary. I think it's the tendons in the whole leg that become tight, so when we move, it pulls the joints. Once your able to stretch the muscles and tendons with light exercises it should improve. Take care chick. Happy healing. Julia. Xx
