Painless red spots on penis head/forskin +

Posted , 6 users are following.

I've been dealing with this for about a year now. One day I tried out new body wash in the shower and all of a sudden my penis became very irritated and itchy and my foreskin got very puffy. Whenever the itchiness and puffiness went away later that day, I was left with these red spots on my penis head and my foreskin was red as well. It also looks like my skin is cracked and dry but it doesn't feel dry. I'm still dealing with it to this day since that happened long ago. It does not hurt or itch at all and it looks a lot worse after masturbation. I've been tested before this happened and everything was clean. I have not had sex since this has happened because I'm very insecure about it. I've tried a few things like cortizone cream and also an anti-fungal cream but nothing has cleared this up. Can someone help me figure out what this is and how to clear it up once and for all? image

There are also some red patches on the other side that you cannot see in this picture

Andrew, it sounds like you are stuck in an cycle that is really unhelpful for the health of the skin where there problem exists at the moment.

I had really bad penile skin on the head of my penis and foreskin, I tried all ways that I could think of too resolve this, but it was not until I started with a steroid ointment that I learned of the different ways to make my penile skin worse.

What you need to do is make a list of everything that is in contact with the skin on your penis: this would typically be soap, for washing and in the shower, shower gel, hair shampoo that you use in the shower that then drains into your genital region and contacts your penile skin.

Are you applying anything like a skin cream or lotion, a moisturiser for example - you even need to include on your list what your clothes are washed in - with this, you need to ensure it is a good quality washing powder and that all kinds of additives are not added to the washing process.

Essentially, the only thing that is safe to contact penile skin when it is like this is water

So yes, you can overcome this - but first of all you need to understand what may be adding to the problem and keeping it in place - then help your penile skin to recover and become healthy again ........

Lately I've been using just water to wash my penis and I've been trying not to let any soap or shampoo come in contact. I haven't applied any lotions or anything in quite some time now. I remember when this first happened, I bought some anti-fungal cream and used it for about 2 weeks because I was thinking it could be balanitis but it didn't seem to help any. Do you think these could be scars? With no pain at all, that's what I think it could be sometimes and it's worrying because then I wouldn't be able to get rid of them. Also thank you for the reply

You have 2 issues: that which is the result of what has happened to your foreskin - in fact, this looks very like the impact that you would have if you had been circumcised.

This is a rather unusual circumstance, and the appearance it gives is that what this has done is to severely disrupt that which would have developed naturally.

In a way, this can be described as scarring - you currently have the remnants of features on your penis that, if you were circumcised, are never going to develop correctly and will always look as they do now.

Why this has happened to your foreskin in the way that it has would seem to be extremely unusual and I fear that this will always look this way.

However, you do also have issues that can be greatly improved upon.

What you also have is a generally unhealthy skin, certainly at the top half of your penis. Symptoms of this include the red patches of skin.

It is regaining the health, strength and resilience of this skin in the long-term will give this skin a much more healthy appearance when this is achieved.

So, there can be a number of things that have contributed to the unhealthy state - certainly years of exposure to soap and other forms of body wash do have a hugely detrimental impact on the health of penile skin, and you now need to minimise or exclude exposure to these from now on.

You may also have something like a fungal / yeast infection hanging on, and yes, if used correctly an antifungal cream would usually deal with this.

However, what you may have is skin that has been so fundamentally compromised that is is showing, no, if any signs of recovery.

When you use something like a cortisone cream, then fundamentally, it needs to be strong enough to impact on the issues it is trying to overcome. Then it needs to be applied correctly for long enough for the distressed skin to even begin to recover.

Presuming the strength were correct, this is a process that can take an extended period of months to begin to show benefit.

The professional that can help you best with these issues is a Dermatologist, even better, would be a dermatologist that specialises in genital skin disorders.

Is seeing a specialist like this something you would do ....... ?

I have similar problem but i got it when i used chamomile on my penis for 20 minutes. I used to have lichen sclerosus or lichen planus, i'd never did the biopsy. I had a lot of fungal infections and infections in general so a doctor told me to keep my glans inside of a glass of chamomile for some minutes in order to deal with infections . I think that the problem was that i didnt filtrate chamomile immediately after boiling and i left it got cold without filtrate it. So doctor told me that when you dont filtrate chamomile immediately after boiling it gets toxins , so he thinks that this triggered me. After this day, 1 year ago, i have a redness exactly in the same spot like you . i use combi cream but it didnt do anything. I am uncircumcised but i prefer to keep my foreskin retracted so my glans is outside all the time. This tactic helped me to make lichen not visible and a lot of rednesses to get away, but this redness in this spot is there 1 year.

    Hi Andrew,

I have almost exactly the same thing. A lager spot and two smaller ones on glans and one on foreskin.

They look reddish to pink depending on shower, sweating etc. After a shower, they look very scaly, almost as if an extra layer will peel off. It actually happened once.

Talked to a GP, he put me on Ketoconazole 2x daily. I am 2 days into the treatment. Did not get better or worse yet.

I have a dermatologist appt this coming week but in the meantime driving myself crazy about scary stuff. What helps with calm is that this happened exactly 2 years ago and resolved on its own.

Of importance, it gets much worse after masturbation or rough sex, abstaining from both for a while.

p.s. I am sure this is not and STD/STI as I have not had anything going on since COVID hit.

Please share if you learn/hear more.
