Palpitations and high heart rate

Posted , 5 users are following.

So I've been on here about palpitations before, but now I'm a little more worried because I seem to get then when my heart rate gets up, like when exercising or doing physical things. Then I feel panicked and start to get short of breath. It's very unnerving. I've always been active, now I'm scared to do anything that gets my heart rate up. I don't even like going to to the gym anymore, because it happens there. Does anybody else have this?

Oh Beth, I could have written your post, love!!

I get palpitations at other times too ...not often, usually around some hormonal event... missed period, starting a period, hot flash, etc...., but the ones that happen when my heart rate is up really freak me out. And yes, as a result, I avoid getting my heart rate up.

Logically I know that's the exact opposite of what I should do. I really cannot, at this moment, help it.

I am sorry you're having this issue too. I am hoping some of the kind ladies here can offer some reassurance.

    Hugs to you ~~

      Thank you,

I hate that we go through this, I just want to live my life. I like working out, but now it scares me. I'll just have to do it anyway.I refuse to let this beat me. Hugs to you too.🙂

Can you get an echocardiogram and particularly a stress echo? I was strongly advised by emergency doctor and GP both, not to exercise until an Echo had confirmed my heart was healthy. I have the opposite kind to you it turns out, they come on more strongly with a slow heart rate which is reassuring for exercise but bloody awful for falling asleep! HRT is helping though.

I could get both test if I wanted to, but I probably won't. Only because I have little faith in Dr's. I have had some bad experiences with Dr's and my daughter. But that's a whole other story.I have the palps at other times also. They are especially bad from ovulation to my period. I've had them on and off all my life, then went for a long time without them. I think with changes in estrogen, it is causing my heart to beat faster when I do physical things. It's just scary and something hard to get used to. Hopefully one day they'll just go away again.
