Pancreatic Cancer?

Hello,

I am 20 years old and male, and I have been experiencing symptoms for months and doctors still suspect IBS but I suspect something else.

Since about 5 months ago, I have been passing very greasy, floating stools that are light brown and I am seeing some undigested food in my stool such as rice, nuts, etc.  Then about a month and a half ago I began experiencing mid back pain that has since spread around my back, and up my spine to my upper back. I started getting upper abdominal pain as well, which comes and goes and feels like a dull ache and sometimes is worse when I bend forward, and I now have abdominal pain on the right and left sides under my ribs too. Also some right sided chest pain, where my lungs might be.

I have lost very minimal weight and it has remained relatively stable but I eat a lot so that might mask the weight I should be losing.  I am itchy all over sometimes but my skin is not yellow and my eyes are not noticeably yellow, only when I lift my eyelid I see a bit of yellow but I REALLY have to look. I lost my appetite for the past few days and I am nauseous in the morning, but I was extremely anxious and had drank a lot the day before so that may have just been from a hangover. I also have gotten depression which is also a symptom of pancreatic cancer unfortunately.

EVERYTHING on google says I have pancreatic cancer. I also have health anxiety. Blood tests and abdominal ultrasounds have come back normal, my Lipase level is 109 which is sort of on the low end of normal. I have had CEA and CA 19-9 blood tests which have showed up within normal limits, and I had a CT scan 10 months ago before I had these symptoms for something unrelated (possible appendicitis) which came back normal for my pancreas. I am vitamin D deficient so I’m taking supplements, fiber, probiotics, and nothing is really working for my digestive issues. I am worried about something like pancreatic cancer or gallbladder cancer, and I don’t know what to do. I just want to have peace of mind. Should I worry?

First thing you need to do is GET OFF THE INTERNET.   Your reading will

only cause you to worry which effects your health.   Find a pancreatic specialist.  Let them tell you what you have or don’t have.

You have so much going on reading things will not give you the answers you need.

Please find a specialist and stay off the internet.

I hope you find a Dr to help you and I wish you luck !

I doubt seriously that you have pancreatic cancer. Your pancreas may indeed be inflamed and you had an acute episode of Pancreatitis. I noticed where you mentioned alcohol and a hangover. If you are drinking alcohol while this is going on, you couldn’t be doing anything worse. Stop ALL alcohol. If you can’t, then you have another monkey on your shoulders. The symptoms you described do indeed sound like some anomaly of the pancreas. Find a good GI Dr. Have an US and hopefully an EUS. An EUS and CT scan are two tests that would help rule out pancreatic disorders/diseases. Again, STOP drinking. Your pancreas is trying to tell you something that you already know about drinking. Good luck.

    Hi Joey,

Just wanting to send some encouragement and let ya know that I too have been having some serious pain before and since I was hit with Acute Pancreatits last year so I have an idea as far as the pain gos how thats been feeling for ya and I do sympathize with you. Ive had tests done as well and so far, there has been no sign of cancer but my Dr. feels I have a "sludgey" gall bladder and needs to come out. You have to pay attention to what your body is saying and take notes, I would do like a week or 2 notetakeing about your bms, the pains going on, how they feel, what your bms look like, etc and present that to your Dr when you go again and tell him of your concerns. If your tests so far have come out negative for cancer, I would relax until you do the 2 week notetaking of not only your bms, the pain and also the food you eat because to me it doesnt sound like cancer either, especially with the tests that you have had done that have come out ok but something in there is amiss and needs to be addressed, not only  to take that pain down, but to give you some piece of mind as to finding out what the culprit is thats causing these symptoms. Ive never had the floaties, or light colored stools unless I drank milk, it seems I have an allergy to that which causes my stools to turn light and cause me alot of gas and stomach upset. Also as far as what you have read on the internet about Pancreatic Cancer, there are several symptoms that can go along with a diagnosis of something else so I would just try to relax and do that 2 week note taking of everything and take that to the Dr so he will know exactly whats going on on a daily basis for that 2 weeks. Hope you get to feeling better soon.
