Pancreatis, IBS or something else? Lipase slightly elevated.

Hi all. My husband has had a near constant pain in his upper left, which occasionally radiated to his back for over 8 yrs. It is the worst in the mornings, when hungry, tired or stressed. He describes it as feeling exremely hungry or gnawing. He has daily floating diarrhea. Light brown/yellow in colour. Can't find a link to any foods. He has had several ultrasounds and showed a slightly enlarged spleen that has since shrunk down a bit. A perfect MRI. An endoscopy and colonsocopy which were both clear. Neg for H pylori. Blood tests which the most recent had slightly elevated levels of Lipase. (Amylase was not tested and I don't know if it was elevated on prior tests). His doctor says IBS but it just doesn't sit well with me... BM's don't help the pain, he has no cramping, bloating etc... any ideas would be appreciated because this has gone on too long. Can there be something wrong with a pancreas that doesn't show up on an MRI?

Hi I too have the pain your husband has only mine is right side. it was thought I had gall stones at first until an ultra sound revealed a distended pancreatic duct, After a Ct with dye, endoscopy, and a MRCP scan, everything is 'Normal', but I still have the pain. I don't have loose stools, the opposite I'm constipated. My consultant has referred me back to my GP for pain control. Every time I go to see him he just prescribes different stomach tablets, and shakes his head saying all my scans are normal. I have enough tablets to start my own pharmacy. Thing is I am frightened to drink or eat in case the pain becomes severe. I have heard pancreatic does not always show up on scans, but my doctors are having none of this.

How awful. I'm sorry for you. I don't know how you feel but I see my husband and I don't want him to have to do this forever. Keep pushing, there has to be something. We started seeing a Naturopath recently and fingers crossed I'm hoping this is the one. He had my hubby go on a vegetable juice (except tomatoes) and bone broth fast for the last 3 days and his stomach is probably 80% better after the second day. I know that's not a good permanent solution but if this worked he would have a better idea of what body organs were involved.
