Panic Attack New Symptoms

New to reaching out on forums, but I need help or reassurance. I've been diagnosed with generalized anxiety and occasionally have panic attacks. Today's was so bad i had to leave work.

I felt a sudden wave of coldness wash over my chest which sent me into a panic. I got extremely shakey and dizzy as well. The symptoms got better and hit again in two more separate waves with breaks in-between all 3 waves of this cold feeling.

is this a normal anxiety symptom? I've never had one so severe before. Please help.

yes your symptoms are common with panic. It’s all caused by the release of adrenaline which will eventually wear off. I know it’s a very weird feeling but do your best to focus on long slow breathing to help calm your self down. Panic attacks can be scary however they are not going to hurt you. Keep telling yourself that you will be OK over and over and this is just anxiety .

there are some great video meditations for a panic attack found on YouTube. there are some that will guide you through a panic attack. It would be a great idea to listen to one or two while you are not having a panic attack so that you know what to do. just in case.in the meantime, try to see what may be causing your underlying anxiety. Perhaps speaking with a counselor would help. You’re going to be OK! Take care

I have been having strange symptoms for 14 yrs and those are on the list! I get a flushing cold feeling not only in chest but down arms and legs as well. Its almost as if water is pouring inside of me. I also get shaky and dizzy and feel faint. My arms and legs feel really heavy and my legs feel like they are going to collapse. Sometimes it lasts for a few minutes sometimes a few hours and sometimes a few days its awful.

Yes! i have similar symptoms as well! I have never felt that cold sensation as bad as it was today. Like mentioned, it came in multiple waves, each only lasting probably a few seconds but it was terrifying. I guess i can kind of explain it as feeling like when you out vics vapor rub on and its that cold but not cold sensation but on the inside. Or like you explained it, like water flowing through me.

It all sucks!! I have been feeling awful for 6 days in a row now. I feel faint and shaky like I'm going to pass out. Then I take .5 xanax and that feeling passes but I get a really heavy weird feeling in my head. This is the first time I have actually taken the xanax 3 times a day for the last 6 days. I just started Topiramate and Citalopram but have only taken it for a week . I have a phone video chat with my therapist tomorrow. I have not felt this bad for this many days in a row since it started 14 yrs ago.

Yes, that sounds like anxiety. Stick with it and you'll get out the other side. Try and think what led up to that moment, see if you can spot anything you've done or not done that led you there. Tell yourself it's anxiety and that you'll come to no harm. Take care.
