Panic attacks w/o typical symptoms (fast heartbeat/breathing)

Hi all. Sorry I'm pretty sure this has been asked already, but I would be grateful for your input.

So a couple of days ago I experienced what I think was a panic attack, but I would like to check in and see with you guys if anyone else experiences them like this or experiences episodes similarly.

So my symptoms were:

- Feeling of dread

- Hot flashes, followed by cold flashes, sweating etc

-Feeling upset, shaky and anxious

- Noise sensitivity

-Migrane-like symptoms of aura, flashes in eyes briefly for a few seconds, but no migrane.

-Ache in abdomen

Episode lasted about 20 minutes or so, with the aftermath of being really tired and couldn't sleep until about 4 in the morning. Have been under a lot of stress recently with episodes of depression and upcoming exams in December.

Symptoms not experienced:

-Heart rate fluctuation

- Breathing increase

I do have hyperthyroidism which I am on meds for. Slight low bp. I don't have diabetes or any heart conditions which I understand can also give the symptoms listed above.

I've experienced these symptoms before and was diagnosed with anxiety/depression/IBS a couple of years ago and am currently seeking treatment via cbt.  I've never put a name to what I have been experiencing with these episodes before but I feel that they may be panic attacks, I've been thrown off by the lack of some typical symptoms associated with them though. (Will be discussing this with my gp and cbt therapist during my next appointments).

Thank you for reading. x

Anxiety is the worst thing so I know exactly how your feeling when experiencing attacks, feel free to message me if you need any reassuring or support x

Hi Tiddlywinks, Yes, classic anxiety / panic attack. The aura you explained sounds like an ocular migraine. That is what the doctor told me anyway. The migraine was probably brought on by the panic attack. It sounds like you are working toward a solution. Good for you. Being proactive is key.
