Panicking about panic attacks

I've never had any medical issues really but a month ago due to an infection I was taken to hospital with a cardiac issue which was very quickly resolved. However overnight my life has changed I have now been introduced to the panic disorder. This to me is totally crippling, I've gone from a bubbly outgoing person to someone who can barely leave the house or be on my own. I can't imagine how I'm ever going to get better. I've been prescribed 40mg up to 3 times daily of propranolol.

Thankyou! I'm trying really hard, trying to get myself out of the house as much as I can manage, I find the less I do the worse I am. It feels like I have some amazing days when I think it's all gone away and then the next day can be back to square one. Is this the same as others?

I'm so sorry you're going through this. Try and take calm from the fact you are not alone and most of us on this forum have experienced the things you are going through. We are all in this anxiety thing together!
I had a panic attack just over a month ago and since then I've been on edge all the time. Some of the symptoms come back like the heart palpatations and weird chest pain feeling and the nausea! I try and do breathing exercises, I have been put on a low dose of anti depressants and have been referred for counselling. We have to remember that we are doing the right things by getting help and talking about our anxiety. We have to start somewhere. Keep going! ??

Hi.glad your posting asking for advice . I started with panic attacks years ago, have had anxiety for years, mind racing, can't stop worrying ,scared to go out thinking I'd bump into people and not come across well or they may notice my nerves. Been in blind panics before or just spend hours going over things in my head. When I finally broke down at doctors I started to get help. Mum pushed me to get out of house, doctor prescribed small meds and therapy , and it's just so reasuring that we're not alone . Lots of people out here suffering from panic and anxiety and so helpful to talk and ask advice on how to cope. So scary having anxiety or panic attacks but over the years I now know they will pass, just such a scary feeling. Keep talking , talkbhere anytime if need reassurance , your not alone and hope your doctor can help, mine is great , I just had to explain exactly how I felt ??

Hi there
The worst thing you can do at this point of time is to panic about your anxiety. This would create a vicious trap which would be hard to break.
Continue taking your medications and try focussed breathing or progressive muscle relaxation exercise. This would calm your nerves.
Take care
