PanOptix trifocal lens implants, 2 Yag surgeries on 1 eye and 1 on the other. Still cloudy.

Six months ago I had trifocal IOL lens implanted. PanOpix. Since then I’ve had 3 YAG surgeries and I still have cloudy vision in both eyes and not great vision in the other eye. They said I made an abundance of stem cells. Im very active and run my own company do 3D design work and photography. They keep saying wait for 12 months but I’m wondering if I should have the lens removed and just wear glasses. Would appreciate any advise because my doctor says my vision is good enough, but its really not. Driving at night is nearly impossible and I need to drive at night.

An explant after having the YAG done is going to be difficult. The type of lenses you could put in could be very limited. What you might want to consider is replacing the PanOptix with a monofocal in your dominant eye. That may improve vision enough that the second eye does not need to be done. If it is still providing near and intermediate vision you may still be eyeglasses free.

Thank you for that information. I feel landlocked by these 3 Doctors , my eye doctor that I see regularly, the doctor he recommended for the PanOptix and the 3rd doctor in practice with my regular eye doctor who preforms Yag and Lasik. So Im going outside the group to get a second opinion today. Helps so much to get these responses!

hi Nancy I assume you had this surgery due to cataracts vs a clear lens exchange? Often younger patients due to pupils dilating more have more issues with glare and halos at night.

They would also experience more growth of cells requiring a yag.

That being said have you had a full refraction test with your optometrist? It would be first thing I would to see where my vision has ended up. It is possible there is dome astigmatism or the power is off and accounts for blurry vision.

Yes, because of Cataracts, also had toric lens PanOptix. My regular eye doctor checked out my eyes the day after and am not sure of all the tests. The doctor doing the Yag did comment that my health must be exceptional to be creating so many stem cells, but though the Yag would clear it up. I appreciate any advise. Seeing a different doctor today to get his opinion.

I am not clear on what happened. Did you have both eyes operated on at the same time or close in time. I know there are doctors that push this, but IMHO any doctor that does this should be charged with malpractice. If this was the case, I cannot warn people enough not to do this.

Right after your surgery was your vision quality "Good"? And then you got PCO, so did YAG? Again I am not sure what happened. Also did you get YAG on both eyes?

IMHO it should not take 12 months to heal.

The only advice I could offer at this point is get a 2nd opinion from one of the Top Opthmalogist in the country. NO! all doctors are not the same. Travel if you have to. If I name names or give links I will go into moderation, so you can PM if you like.

Thank you for responding. Yes to both eyes. The vision was distorted by the medicine they use to prevent you from having to use drops for 6weeks. The vitreous solution was dark and cloudy in both eyes immediately after after surgery and cleared up slowly over 6 days. According to my exam I can read the letters well enough given a white background ,bold black letters and perfect lighting. My surgeon was highly respected in his field but I understand there is a kick back to the doctor who recommends. Same doctor is the one who then cares for the patient. I am getting a second opinion today, thanks for encouraging me to do that!

How long after the cataract surgery did you have YAG done? Was there a period of time in between the two procedures (cataract and then YAG) where your vision was clear, or was the PCO there directly after the initial surgery?
