Paramol

I got over a co codamol addiction about 2 years ago. I did it cold turkey. Lasted a few days of pain but felt immense after. About 2 months ago i had the worst period pain ever and went to the pharmacy for some medicine to help. They subscribed Paramol. I had never heard of it before and looking at the packaging i thought it was going to be dull. Tried it and got a buzz. I actually thought oh sh*t not this again.

Since then i have had 2 a day. maybe 1 every other day. Nothing major. Due to my job of lifting heavy boxes and so on i do get a lot of pain so it does help to reduce that.

Seeing some people on this thread who can take about 30 in one go? how the hell do you manage that without being sick !?.

I just wondered if anyone knew, not just for me but general information what the long term effects were of codeine abuse?. What happens if you carry on taking these pills throughout  your life. Does your liver explode or what?

I cannot find this information anywhere.

Thankyou.

If anyone would like any information as to how i stopped co codamol id be happy to give it.

It is not so much the codeine that affects your liver but the paracetamol if it is combined in the tablet eg cocodamol. Paramol is actually dihydrocodeine and paracetamol. Dihydrocodeine is very similar to codeine.

Paramol can be bought over the counter at pharmacies. Each tablet contained 7.46mgs of dihydrocodeine and 500mgs of paracetamol.
