Parotid gland swelling

Hi All,
Request your help on my symptoms please.
1. Bilateral swelling(right side is larger than the left)
2. No pain at all
3. Sour saliva many times a day (sometimes continuously for 2-3 mins)
4. Goes down when I drink water and comes back.
5. No fever or no other symptoms, no pain, no difficulty eating and no other issues.
I visited my doctor and suspected it to be mumps. But I had mumps before 6 years and was treated for the same but doctor mentioned rarely second time some people could get mumps. The swelling is going on for 4 months now so I have rules out mumps as Mumps swelling is usually gone in 15-20 days. I consulted ENT and was suggested to take blood test which included RPR, ANA, SJOGRENS and everything is normal or negative. I took second opinion and the doctor suggested some additional blood work for sexually transmitted diseases which I haven't done yet as I am not sexually active for 3+ years which I did mention to doctor but he still wanted to test it out and I dont know why.
MY ENT now has however referred to a salivary gland specialist who I will be visiting soon for more diagnosis. Did anyone have such symptoms or any idea what this could be. Mentally stressed searching online on this symptom only gives you answers like cancers and HIV.

Wow, I had no idea so many people have similar symptoms. My parotid glands and lymph nodes have been swollen for 3 months now. Both parotid glands swollen (left larger than right). Lymph nodes in neck by jaw and ear swollen and tender. For a while I had not much saliva. Sour stuff helped with the saliva, but not the swelling. My cheeks kind of tingle like when you blow up a balloon and air gets in the sides of your cheeks...
I have had a CT scan - no stones or tumors, which I'm thankful. Been to the ENT and they looked at me like no big deal.
The thing is, there has to be some reason the glands are swollen and tender which indicates something is not right.
Plus, I look like a freak with huge chipmunk cheeks.
I feel for you guys that are experiencing this. Any clues?
Many Thanks!

Please, if you get any answers or figure out what's wrong let me know. I have had swelling and discomfort for over a month now. The left parotid gland is the worse. The ENT gave me a strong antibiotic which really did nothing. I am told that the insurance will not pay for a scan and that it most likely won't show anything.

I have had my left cheek swell up three times in the past 4 months.
First time lasted about a week and I had a very foul smell in my mouth and nose. After a few days I went to my GP who gave me a prescription for cephalexin, an antibiotic for bacterial infections, 500mg, 3x a day for 3 days and it cleared up with the antibiotics.
About 6 weeks ago, same thing but no foul odor. No treatment, It went away in about 4 days on its own.
Several days ago it came back, no foul odor but swelling increasing a bit each day. Yesterday I tried messaging it, which caused a lot of pain, which was treated with an extra strength 500mg tylenol.
Swelling goes from under left eye socket to just below left side of jaw, and from side of nose to about a half inch away from my ear on left side. No pain when eating. No odor or dry mouth. Lip feels swollen on left side, like when novocaine is wearing off.
In each case pain moved around the upper and lower back teeth on the left side. Went to the dentist twice for x-rays and an exam and nothing was found wrong with my teeth. Online research seems to point to a blocked parotid salivary gland on the left side.

Saw my GP today. Turns out this wasn't a salivary gland problem, but a gum abscess at the top of my gum where it joins the cheek. Dentist must have missed it because it was just starting up. Filled my cheek (or maybe the maxillary sinus) with pus. If the antibiotics don't fix it I may have to get it lanced by the dentist.

If it is affecting your lip and the bottom of your mouth to push up your bottom plate, wouldn't it show up on a dental xray?

I'm having the same issues and went through the same tests which came back negative. I just had an MRI on Tuesdsy which came back normal. On Thursday, experienced my tongue tingling and within five minutes both of my patrons glands plus under my tongue was swollen. It helped to suck on cry baby sour candy to side in salivating. Went to my ENT doctor and he was clueless and referred me to an Allergist. Anyone with information that can help, please share.
