Paroxetine change over to Sertraline

Hello

I posted a few days ago regarding my struggle with Paroxetine withdrawal.  I was considering trying St John's Wort along with some other herbals but changed my mind as I think I'd rather take a drug approved by NICE so I started Sertraline this morning..  I'm going to also take some gentle herbs, prescribed by a medical herbalist along with a pharmacist, to complement this.

After the first tablet, though, I had horrendous upset stomach; not sure if that's the drug or a bug, as my own pharmacist suggested.

How do other people cope with the gastric side of things when coping with a new drug, please? I want to persevere for at least six weeks to see if there is any improvement.

Many thanks.

Hi avril.   The upset tummy is very normal I am surprised the pharmacist didn’t explain that to you as it’s one of the most common side effects.   Have a read through the leaflet in your box of meds.   Tbh I haven’t found anything that settles it fully, I drink Andrews salts when I have nausea and I avoid anything rich or spicy.  I’m 6 weeks and stomach hasn’t settled yet but it does in time.  Everyone is different though.  X

    Hi Avril.

Manuka honey will take care of any gastric issues you have  It’s a little pricey but well worth it.  It’s a game changer.  😊
