Hi Wanda are you keeping your cervix? I feel your anxiety as I was the same! I’ve had partial! Just uterus removed! It was the best thing I ever did! I didn’t wear support briefs but bought a size up of big pants low rise so they avoided my surgery cuts. I had bed rest for 5 days and small walks in the garden after a day. Then out and about after a week as a passenger. With bed rest still on and off for 5 weeks. I drank peppermint tea and took arnica! Sex after 6 weeks and not painful at all! In fact it’s much better as no mass! ♥️ Happy to answer any questions and if you’d rather private message all good! I found a lady on here who was having her op around the same time and we supported each other through it! Please don’t worry the surgeons and nurses are amazing ♥️.

You’re welcome! I had all the fears you have! Oh meant to say start with gentle sex rather than doing the obvious more strenuous positions haha! Let us know how the op goes ♥️. Happy healing xx

    Hi Wanda,

I recommend taking clothing that is nice and loose around the tummy...definitely a light dress and comfy underwear to assist with having to wear pads for any bleeding. My bleeding stopped the next day so I was stoked with that. Also can't offer any suggestions regarding sex as I'm still waiting until the doctor gices me the all go (just over two week's since my op). I must say that I have been feeling very amorous which is unusual for me and don't know if anyone else has experienced it? How is your op being done? Mine was laproscopically and recovery has been great. Other than that, good luck ?

      Hi DeeMarie

Surgery went well. I did use your advice about loose clothing, which was helpful. I wore a large fitting dress . Recovery seems to be steady too, with trying to move and drink fluids. Thanks again.

Glad to hear it all went well!! Make sure you do take it easy though. I went for a small walk (10mins) away from my house 3 days after my op and I was very tired and the next day I was quite tired as well. I know when I've overdone it because my body gets quite tired for things that ive normally had no problems with. I was also lucky that I had my mother in law come and stay for 3 weeks to help out and it was awesome that I had the help and my hubby could go to work knowing I would be looked after. Just remember to take things easy...good luck with your recovery 😊

    Hi Wanda,

I had large fibroids in 2015 so I had hysterectomy and decided to keep ovaries as I was 46 with heart disease in the family. Surgery went well. I bought the underwear with the support and the gel band that goes against incision. It was truly a life saver for me. I also cleaned incision with sterile saline solution every day. Now you can barely see the scar. I strongly recommend looking into the underwear as without them I had pain.  I am scheduled for surgery again in 4 weeks as I have a large mass growing around ovary. I regret keeping my ovaries and I wish I had looked into what the percentage of having ovarian mass after hysterectomy was. As for having sex I remember before surgery I was terrified that I would feel different and not enjoy it as much. That was not the case at all. It was even better not having all the pain. Have faith, remember to breathe and everything will go well!

    Take care, Lyne

      Hi Lyne,

Surgery went well. I am 5 days recovery and walking with few cramps and tightness, but meds are helping. I did keep my ovaries from doctor recommend due to added health benefits. Thanks again.

Hi. I had a laparoscopic hysterectomy just over 3 weeks ago everything apart from my ovaries. I feel great. My advice would be take peppermint capsules as soon as you can after your operation. I had no wind pain at all.

Plus you might want to take a stool softener i know its not nice to talk about but pain killers and not moving much can make you constipated.

Move around a little but often as soon as you are able to and drink plenty of fluids. I slept sat up to for the first couple of nights.

I honestly feel really good. I do get tired if i do to much still but even that is getting better.

Good luck with your operation I hope it all goes as smoothly as mine has
