Today I just can't concentrate on snything and I have a banging headache.  My husband has been talking to me and I just can't be bothered to answer him half the time. I feel quite bad today, so we all have our days. I woke up feeling very optimistic but don't now.   Tomorrow will be better for me and you😊

I agree with the comment about everyone thinking w should be better sooner than we are being from those who have not had knee surgery.  At first these comments worried me....but I come back here and read from those experiencing what I am, and try to be more positive.  I'm just past five months and just the past couple of weeks I feel a little better I think.  Trying not to jinx it.  I do believe I'm not as stiff as I was.  I've been biking....and we have lots of stairs as we have a stilt house in Florida, and live on second floor.  I'm always going up and down to the clothesline, etc.  try and stay positive, I know it's hard some days.

I think christmas has something to do with it too. Don't know about anyone else but I am stir crazy, not been out since Christmas eve.  Usually go for a walk but it is so frosty outside and cold I don't want to risk it today.  I am in need of fresh air

I get the same sharp pain in the same place and it takes aWhile to straighten my leg...particularly if the chair is quite high.  I have difficulty after sitting at my desk (luckily at home) and have to use a crutch for the first few steps.

walking is still uncomfortable and very tiring (16 weeks) and not worth risking in icy weather.  I'm lucky that I have physio every week...it really does help.

I agree that people don't understand what a massive operation this is and that recovery can take a very long time.  People stop asking you how you are in the end!  However, this is my 2nd TKR, so I know it's worth it I the longing run!

    keep positive.

hi jo ... the pain on the inside of your knee is most probably the inner scar, the one you cannot see, where they cut around the knee cap. i had quite considerable pain there too as this scar seemed to have healed really fast and "stuck" because i couldn't bend my knee enough to "unstick" it. how many degrees are you able to bend your knee? when i was on the machine which bends your knee passively, i could see how the scar was unable to give ... not pleasant. my surgeon kept saying that it will go away but in my case, it mainly went away after i had my knee mobilized at week 12. from then on it has improved tremendously and i only get the occasional twinge. i found my massage therapist was really able to help the pain too.

as for the stick, use it as long as it helps you! i got sick to death of them falling over the whole time, having to use a backpack because of them. so i put them aside at week 8.3, motivated by my hand being black and blue from leaning on it too much!

don't despair, it does get better.
