Partial knee replacement

  • Iv had a partial knee replacement 3 months ago.

Was going well up until 5 weeks in and I pulled my hamstring and had to rest and ice it.

Recovered but now have sharp pains behind the knee after knee bent when sitting.

Does anyone else have this problem?

Also would be great to hear partial knees that have gone well, to give us hope, I keep reading negative outcomes.

Hi, I hope you feel better soon. My wife had a PKR and was hiking all over Israel, through tunnels and up and down steep stairs a few months later.

I had bilateral partial knee replacements in March 2018 and my recovery went brilliantly with both. I was free of the pain I'd suffered from previously and had great ROM in both. My mobility improved ten fold.

My left knee is still in great shape but unfortunately I have had a set back with the right - a twisting injury whilst getting out of the car has caused damage to the lateral side of the femur necessitating a revision to TKR. However, I do not feel despondent about this as over the past 20 years (I am 53) I have undergone a considerable amount of surgery on this knee (sports injuries) and always knew a partial replacement may not work. My revision is scheduled for May 30th and I have every confidence in my consultant.

    Good luck with your recovery.
