Partial medial menisectomy recovery 6 months post op

I'm just coming up on 6 months post op , full knee flexion is back and in general all is good until I do any form of exercise ....during running (my main sport) and cycling it feels quite good ....but I keep getting discomfort and tightness in the medial side above the knee particularly medialis oblique that peaks 2 days as well as some pain around front under knee .....what are peoples experience of returning to activities after this op ? I'm 43 btw
