Partial nephrectomy

I'm scheduled for a partial nephrectomy using a DaVinci robotic technique (keyhole) in 2 weeks and wondered if anyone has already been through this?

How quickly did you recover? How much pain did you experience? Do you have any lasting side effects? Any information would be greatly appreciated as I'm very anxious about all of what I'm about to face!

I'm curious why are they taking a piece of your kidney out?

Hi Amanda, how did you find it? I know it's a quicker recovery than being opened up but I'm really worried about how much pain I will be in!

Recovery from the Actual Surgery was a Breeze... in fact I had a 7 hour Car Ride home just 48 hours Post Op and was awake in the passenger seat the whole time 😉 ... However because I spent almost 7 Years Misdiagnosed, the weight of my kidney pulling caused Scoliosis, Nerve Damage in my right side, deformed ribs on the right, vertebrae in my neck was a reversed "C", my Urinary System was a Nightmare, so every system in my body had to "Reboot" and that took a full year. But after 7 years, it was SOO WORTH IT!!!!!

To Diagnose, the Urologist looked at my Xrays with Position Change- Standing Up vs. Laying Down and After Emptying Bladder... it dropped from my Ribs (laying down) to my Right Hip (Standing up)...

Oh my that sounds dreadful! I've never heard of your condition before, didn't even know that could happen. Glad you're recovered now though, 7 years is a long time to suffer. Hopefully my surgery will also be a breeze and I'll be back to normal soon 😊
