Passing lots of mucus

Going to try and be short.  I have read a lot and there are multiple options that this could be.  For the last two years I pass a lot of mucus. Some weeks are better than others but for the most part it stays steadily the same.  It gives me lots of gas and I have to go to the toilet to pass the gas or it will end up in my pants.  Sometimes if it gets really bad not just mucus will come out  but there will be brownish curly stringy looking stuff or brown mush. (not stool)(also don't think it is a worm either).  This seems to be something separate from my regular bowel movements.  The past two years my stool and regular bowel movements have not changed.

-I have no pain

-no blood in stool

-no cramping

-no diarrhea

-no constipation

-When I read all the possible issues it could be I have no other symptoms that go along with the said issue.

-I only pass a lot of mucus.

Awhile back when I started doing research I read that it could be intolerance to high fructose corn syrup. (found in a lot of American foods).  I try to stay away from foods with corn syrup and weeks where I do it seams to get better.  But there are weeks or days where it is happening but I don't know what I ate to link it to.  When I drink beer or soda/foods with corn syrup it for sure gets worse.  I know it sounds like I might have nailed what it is but it is not as black and white as I made it sound.  When I try to experiment with diet it changes a little bit but is still there. I don't feel like it changes enough to say it is an intolerance to high fructose corn syrup. This still could be it but just being clear.

Can anyone help? Thanks

I have been suffering with the same thing for the past year but I've had bleeding too . Originally I was told they suspected proctitis but the after a sigmoidoscopy told I've not . I'm due to see a Colo rectal specialist this morning so I 'll let you know what they say

I've just got back from my appointment. I have internal hemmoroids which I'm told causes the mucus but I also have 1cm of inflammation so I have to go for a sigmoidoscopy. To really know what's going on you really need to see a Dr and get a colonoscopy .
