Has anyone had a successful long-term relationship without passing on hsv-2 to their partner?

I have been having regular sex with my girlfriend for just under 2 years now and so far not passed my HSV2 on to her.

I told her about the Herpes before we had sex for the first time. We have never used condoms. However I am very vigilant for outbreaks. If there is the slightest sign that there may be one coming then I refuse to have any sort of sex with her.

Fortunately I don't have outbreaks often.

Thanks for the reply! I have been having unprotected sex with my boyfriend for a couple of months and I have been on suppressive therapy for around 2 or 3 years and haven't had an outbreak in that time. I just can't help but feeling paranoid that I'm going to pass it on, even though he knows the risk.

I can identify with the paranoia. I feel like the one time I forget to check myself is the time I will be passing it on. But anyway so far so good.

You most likely already passed it to her. Condoms are not useful in the prevention of herpes transmission. However just because she has it does not mean she has to show symptoms or have an outbreak it can appear years later.
