I want everyone to know how happy I am that I found this group. After talking to my Rheumatologist 3 times he has agreed to me using the DSNS tapering schedule. This has really made me feel better. I hope everyone with PMR can read what all of you have to say. I have no doubt that following this group will will change your attitude about this miserable disease. I give sincere thanks to all of you that have responded to my concerns.

Gene I agree with you completely. My rheumatologist really didn't like me going so slow but she let me do it grudgingly. But I had so many problems that she didn't really have a better solution for a tapering schedule. However she really surprised me the last time I saw her. I have a fractured vertebrae and I'm having a lot of problems with my back spasming and just terrible pain. And she surprised me when she told me she did not want me to taper down any more right now. And in fact I asked her if I could increase my dosage for a week. Her recommendation was to go up to 15 mg for 4 days. I did that and I got absolutely no relief from taking it so I went ahead and dropped back down to the 6 mg I was on.

Gene, once I got tapering from 30 mg I got there after a bad flare. I took control of my tapering, mod the DSNS method. But always tapering less than 10% , never reducing if I had any PMR pain, currently at 6.5 reducing to 6 mg. I glad you found the forum early on your journey, I wish I had. Good luck stay active, positive and smiling. ☺️
