If you go here: https://addons.mozilla.org/en-Gb/firefox/language-tools/ and click the "Install Dictionary Link" on the English (British) line - it should be at the top. On the next page, click the green "add to firefox" button. A dialog should then appear in the top left as it downloads the dictionary, click Accept once it's done.
Once you've done this, you may need to right click on a text area and go to Languages and then select the correct language.
It's likely that you computer is also set up to to be US locale too, so you may want to look into that too.

Avatars.
Oddly enough I had never set an avatar. The forum automatically took the one from my computer log in page. Go figure. Now I see it's vanished, and I'm sorry about that. If I ever get my new computer I will try to set it again.
It was cool having those funny little op art symbols for people and I wonder why they have been eliminated.

Hi Anhaga -
We removed the old default avatars and replaced it with a standard default in response to one of our users alerting us to the fact that it was a possible privacy threat to our users.
If you would like to change your avatar from the default, click your name to go to your forums profile (or click here https://patient.info/forums/me), then hover your mouse over your avatar image and click edit, then upload a new one from your computer using the form.

Thanks for info. Can't do anything until I have my own computer again. But now that you mention it, it probably was a security risk if the old Patient automatically captured avatars from a persons's computer!

Just thinking about the unhappy changes here. Not all change is good, no matter what the perpetrators may think. Windows (I assume it's Windows) did the same thing some months ago. On the touch screen keyboard of my laptop I had access to some really cool emoticons and symbols. Quite enjoyed using them, especially the neat little black ones which fitted so nicely with printed words. Well, they up and changed them all to fat blobby coloured things, often unidentifiable. Unlike here, there really is no way to express feedback. Hardly use any of them now. I especially miss the little dragon which is an apt symbol for PMR and pred.

I agree Anhaga, not all change is good, unfortunately we are living in an age of change. Today the forum is working fine for me on my cellphone, still prefer the old colors. But I can live with it. Still a great forum where I can learn something most days, it has been a great help to me. Got to keep smiling. 🙂

Hi, What has happened to the SEARCH box that used to be in the top right corner ? I have searched to see if it has been relocated without success. It is/was a most useful facility.

I found it fairly useless! I could search for a post of my own, with the exact title, and got about 90,000 results! I get better results using google and including patient.info in the request or looking for the patient info links it turns up.
And by the way - this is a complaint thread about the LAST revamp over a year ago which almost everyone hated. This latest is even worse IMHO...

EileenH, I agree what in the name of God are they trying to do. This new format is terrible so far. I sure bugs will be addressed, but for the most part I am just looking at it and not posting. We got to stay positive that they will work the bugs out. Keep smiling ☺️

Wondered where you had been. I'd be very tempted to join you !

EileenH the forum has become difficult, I am spending some time working with a person who has Alzheimer's plus a tear in my labrum. I kinda have my hands full.
Good to see you are keeping things line. I think Alzheimer's is controllable if not curable, with this protocol. Think positive as always with a smile? Hang in there! 😉

To describe this as difficult is an insult to the difficult...

Sad but true EileenH, hopefully it will get straighten out. And we can continue on our happy way. Think positive, 🙂

Hi Derek,
The search box is in the top banner menu shown in image below. Click the magnifying glass to open the box. This is going to be improved in the near future as it is not obvious/small box when opened.
I have also asked for a major improvement with regards to searching the forums discussions/posts as at the moment it is not very useful when trying to find specific posts.
There is a new search function being built now which will improve things but I don't know how long until it will be ready to go live.
Regards,
Alan

Thank you Alan. I should have realised that as it is a common symbol. As others have said the site seems to have slowed down a lot.

Yes Derek - I agree, I find it slow too.

Good morning EileenH, this morning we are treated to our first mantle of white, it won't last, but nice to see! Think positive with a smile. 😉

Hi Derek,
Re the slowness - can you let me know details of how you are accessing the site with as much info as you know please.
So laptop/desktop/tablet etc, browser being used Chrome/Win Edge etc and Operating system Win 10/Mac etc.
I haven't seen any other posts about this so if you do see someone saying the same ask them to PM me - my profile is here where they can find a link to Message.
Eileen, I have your info from PM.
Thanks,
Alan
