Has anyone had success taking paxil to help ease menopause symptoms? My Dr gave it to me last year but I didn't take it but I keep getting worse so I am seriously considering taking it. I can't take HRT unfortunately!

I don't know Edell my doctor gave me Xanax 2 years ago and I was always to scared to take as well, I always use to think we'll maybe a quarter of the pill, but never did try, and I can't take HRT .. I just kind of make it through each day with each passing symptom.. But what I've noticed is they are very exhausting these symptoms are, as they come and go every month like clock work.. I write in my daily journal all my symptoms for that day, and then I look back to see what's coming next now, its so very exhausting but at least I've learned to know what's coming.. I don't get a period I had a hysterectomy , so have know idea where I'm at in my cycle of menopause, so the daily journal helps me a lot! Maybe try yoga, mindfulness apps on the internet, and no processed foods and limit sugars and caffeine, all that has helped me... Its a difficult time in our lives, going through the change of life and now I know why they call it the change, it really changes everything about you, I feel like I'm being rewired into something totally different.. And the hardest part is that NOBODY NOBODY understands ( aside from all ladies on here) but I'm talking all your close members of family and such, they either just think your losing it, or just plain being anti social and not wanting to be bothered with them..its a strange time of life and I hope and pray every single day that I make it through, its so hard... Hope and pray your feeling well soon.. ?

Thank you gypsy! I also had a hysterectomy although I still have my ovaries. So I am in the same boat as you. I agree no one understand except you wonderful ladies! The symptoms I get seem to go on for months at a time. I am so stressed, anxious and depressed. I have tried to avoid the anti depressants although I have taken an occasional xanax but I just feel like i need somwthing. I'm not sure. I'm going to pray about it. Thank you for your feedback and for listening! 💟💟

Hi Edell, what are your most troublesome symptoms? Ive been on paxil for a long time for other issues, but have seen it reported in medical journals as one of the better ssri drugs for the vasomotor symptoms like hot flushes, sweating etc.

The most recent is daily headaches, head pressure and general weird feeling in my head. Plus I cry everyday, I'm easily irritated etc... I have been to the doctor and had tests including CT scan all good. Thank the good Lord! I just can't stop thinking I have something terrible wrong with me cause I just don't feel right. I have had a few hot flushed just in my face recently. Just want to feel normal again
