Paxil - I want to lose weight.

I am 35 and started taking Paxil approx 8 months ago for GAD and Panic Disorder.  I had the full onset of issues Anxiety, OCD, Panic Attacks, Social Anxiety, and even Dissociation.  I know I've dealt with it all my life, with good years and bad, but after I had my daughter in 2010 I think it gradually got worse and worse until I finally broke last year.  Paxil seems like it has given me my life back.  It's wonderful not being so overwhelmed all the time and not being immobilized with panic and anxiety.  Unfortuantely the 20 lbs weight gain so far has me contemplating this wonder drug.  I have my life back but the weight is starting to make me very unhappy.  I've always been comfortable around 130.. went down to 120 before taking Paxil because I couldn't eat... now I'm 145.  That's alot in 8 months.  I don't want to stop taking the medication but I don't want to gain more weight.  Can anyone recommend alternative or something I can do?

they key to losing weight is to speed up your metablisim, their are many natural ways to do so such as consumming spicy food such as cayanne pepper. their is also lots of natural herbs that are good for anxiety such as cinnamon.

I think the real question is sense you had a positive affect on anxiety meds, you clearly have anxiety and not something more serious. maybe your at a time now you should discuss with your doctor about slowly stopping the meds altogether and just knowing you have anxiety and nothing else might be enough to prevent the anxiety in the first place.

having anxiety after having a kid could be due to changes in hormones, or just the worry about something happening to you and not knowing what would happen to your kid.

whatever you do  to lose weight do not starve yourself. too many people fall for that, starving yourself will simply tell your brain " ono she is starving she cant find food etc" and your body will try and preserve what weight you have.

I wouldnt go down the drug route to lose weight... you dont know what side effects they could create.

Is there a slimming club or an online ww that you could join.

I recently lost 2 stone and that was by cutting out sugar , bread, and fatty foods.. I had to because i was having gall bladder trouble but it worked. and i upped my water intake and upped my steps during the day to 10.000 i was only doing about 5000 before.

    Good luck xx😊
