PCO as a remedy for PD vs. IOL exchange

Hi,

is there any chance that a PCO can obscure the edge of an IOL so that it'll stop causing edge-glare Positive Dyshpotopsia? I have a massive PCO after 3 years. Since surgery I've been suffering very very much from PD (Tecnis monofocal).

I am very frustrated because I still consider IOL exchange, however, the PCO is so huge that I can barely see (used to be 25/20, now almoast nothing). Positive Dyshpotopsia is still present, but reduced a little bit. My eye is crying out for a YAG, but I keep postponing it due to PD.

So, I'm just wondering if there is a point where it's gonna be so much obscured, that everything will be covered. In that case creating a smaller hole in the visual axis seems theoretically possible.

Anyway, is there anyone here who has had his IOL exchanged in the presence of massive PCO / fibrosis?

Regards.

at 3 years. massive PCO like you describe. has not done anything to reduce edge glare. if at all anything the edge glare is present for longer duration with increase in PCO. i think this is because as PCO increases pupil expands to pass more light. i an also worried that after YAG the capsule fragments floating in the eye would be more opaque causing more issues. may i ask how old r u?

i am going to exchange. i have asked the question repeatedly and i have been told that its not a big deal. just use more viscos....

      I'm29.

First of all, who told you exachange is not a big deal? Safran or someone else? I live in Europe and have been to a few ophthalmologists, some of them quite famous. All of them said it is extremly dengerous. Actually, I haven't met anyone here who said something else. Honestly, I'd go ahead if someone told me - let's do it. But couldn't find anyone. My PCO reduced PD a little bit. Keep in mind that regardless of an exchange, we gonna need YAG anyway...

When are you going to have your IOL exchanged? Do you have the ZCB00 or Symphony?

I also found Brandon Ayres from Pennsylvania. I tried to reach him out by email, without success, but his YouTube video on exchanges looks very professional.
