Hi i am 25 and have lived with pcos for 8 years. I was told i had very little chance of falling pregnant naturally.

Me and my partner are wanting children and it is killing me not knowing if this will ever happen.

I also have a lot of the symptems that come along with pcos and it tends to be very embarising when a friend comes over telling me i need a shave or my family tell me i am getting fat.

I honsetly dont know what to do. does this happen to many others?

    Hello,

I'm 23 and I've also had PCOS for 8 years. It can be very traumatic and I find that sometimes the majority of that is caused by the unpredictability of the symptoms. It's the nature of them that's so hard to manage. I'll go through a period where my acne will be terrible, all over my face, neck and back and then all of a sudden I'll go through a phase of it being relatively o.k.....then the cycle starts again. Fortunately, I don't have any problems with excess hair yet but I have experienced massive fluctuations in my weight. It's shocking how much weight I have put on in the past, in such a short space of time and for no apparent reason! I once went for 2 years without a natural period, but when I do have a period I find that it just makes me feel a whole lot better. It's almost like a release of the all those hormones that make us feel awful. This has been one of the hardest things to get across to the doctors but luckily I've found a doctor now who understands that not having a period for long spaces of time, does have an adverse affect on the way we feel. I've also always refused to take the pill to regulate my cycle because I'm also concerned about fertility issues in later life. However, the main reason is that I was determined to find a way for my body to have natural periods. Sorry, I'll stop rambling now but I just wanted to say that I got some really good news recently that for the first time in 8 years, my hormone levels are normal! I've been taking 1700mg per day of Metformin to help with insulin-resistance and testosterone levels, topical acne treatments, eating a healthy diet, regular exercise and a good night's sleep and it seems to have paid off! (I've also been battling with depression which in a weird way has given me a boost to take care of myself better) I hope this gives you the confidence that you can also achieve the results that you want.

    Good Luck!

Hi, after reading your post (kodak) I was shocked, as I have not been able to find a single post about pcos and someone who is skinny (no offence to anyone intended). I now know i'm not alone with this condition. I was diagnosed with pcos after comming of the pill back in 2010 to start a family and not having periods very often. I was advised to put on weight ( I was a size 8 ) and put on metformin, which I could not stay on as I made me really ill. I have had what feels like so many tests and most recently have had a hsg test so am hoping that this has increased by chances of concieving. I know it is easy to get fed up, and I feel that it is not an easy subject to bring up with friends ( in my case anyway as everyone as kids, which is worse at social events etc) sometimes I feel like hiding away from everyone ( except my husband) untill I get the result I need, as not knowing how long it will take really gets me down. Hope this helps knowing that you are not alone. X

    Hi,

I am 20 years and was diagnosed with PCOS 6 months ago after failing to conceive after a year of unprotected sex.

I am also skinny , have good skin. however i unfortunately do suffer from a few hairs on my chin and top lip , but its nothing that some tweezers can't fix.

I am on currently on my second cycle of clomid treatment. The first cycle I was on 25 mg , I got my first ever positive OPK on day 14 and 15 of my cycle, however my progesterone level was only 18.1 , my doctor said i was on the borderline of ovulation. I was happy to hear that i did respond to such a low dose but was also disappointed that i did not conceive. My period arrived exactly 14 days after the positive OPK.

this cycle I am still on 25mg but i have my doctors appointment in a few days and if im not pregnant the dosage will be increased to 50 mg. I

i am hoping that given that i almost ovulated on 25mg of clomid that 50 mg will be enough to make sure that i do conceive smile

if anyone wants to chat please do not hesitate to message smile

    Hi joanne2321

I am also the same age both my partner and I are trying to conceive I have bad facial hair on my chin I'm constantly self conscious and shaving as it's dark I daren't leave it too long to get it waxed it upsets and embarrass me when my partner says u need to have a shave I know he thinks he's helping but it is upsetting.. My weight is all over and at the beginning of this year I was the heaviest I've ever been. I have been following slimming world and trying to only have potatoe/pasta or rice with one meal a day as research has shown to reduce carb intake can help. I've lost 2 stone so far but now struggling and with like u said wanting something so bad and never knowing if we are going to have it is the most painful thing please do no feel alone x
