PCOS

So, just an update on my last discussion following my open myomectomy and no cycles. Just to catch others up, I had an open myomectomy in August, had 2 cycles after and then they just stopped on November. I got blood drawn, and basically the doctor said my hormones were elevated which raised an eye for PCOS. I am being prescribed Provera, which is supposed to help my cycle start back. So my question I guess is there anyone out there who can give me advice/info on PCOS and their journey with it?? Were you able to get pregnant? Were you able to carry?? I am worried I won't be able to and that is scary to me since my boyfriend and I really want children.

Did the surgeon not see your ovaries during the myomectomy? wondering about the diagnosis. Provera is strong stuff. Demand an ultrasound to verify the PCOS diagnosis.

The doctor that did my surgery actually retired, so this is a doctor I was referred to. She took blood and my results were that my testosterone levels were elevated just a little. I did my research, and there are ways to take vitamins to help with it. She didn't outright say that I had PCOS, but that the elevated testosterone levels I do have are found in PCOS patients. She sent the Provera to see if it helps jumpstart my cycle. I may wait another month to see if me losing weight and taking the vitamins will help, because some of the research I did stated that weight loss and vitamins could help. I am, however, going to ask for more tests. But the doctors at MUSC are amazing and they do double and triple check themselves and give alternatives before taking huge measurements. How did Provera do for your friend??

My period regularized after about 6 months. this included 2 missed cycles and a barely there cycle that was late by about 11 days. My surgeon expected this irregularity and advised me before surgery. . In fact he said a couple of months. At my insistence he said five. Not every body gets 6 months i imagine. Open myomectomy is significant trauma to the uterus. I think you should wait a bit more & get imaging to affirm or discount PCO S before starting such a hormone. i know someone who used depo provera (not sure it's the same as what you have been prescribed). but when she got off it after about two years she needed a fertility clinic. don't know if she has had a baby. Best of luck.

Last I saw him, which was in September, my cycle was on and he wanted me to come back 2 months later just to do another check up. I have slight cramps, but no cycle!!
