Pcos and obese

Posted , 5 users are following.

I was diagnosed about 7 months ago. I am 15 years old. I went to the doctor the other day and it said my weight was 179.2 and I'm 5'2". For how tall I am, that is considered obese on the BMI chart. Today I just started working out but does anyone have any tips? How did you start to lose weight? How long did it take you? This would really help me out

I was diagnosed with pcos when I was 14, I am now 26 and the way I find best is set yourself a target weight and the way I find best to lose weight is dancing. I get the wii out and got a just dance game and play the just sweat version, it's fun and gets you sweating and works your whole body, you have to find something you find fun to do to keep you motivated. Look on YouTube for fun ways to work out and there will be loads on there. And food wise I find replacing 90% of my drinks with water, changing all my bread and pastas to brown and no cakes/crisp and choc helps but have a treat day where you have a choc bar or something you love.x

    Hi Alyssa,

First of all you have to be very patient because it is very hard to loose weight if you have PCOS but it's possible.

Forget about cola, pepsi or any drinks which containing sugar. Avoid sweets and white bread. No fastfoods. I also have PCOS and I found out that my diet should be very similar to diabetics diet. We have to choose products with low glycemic index. In the internet there are many websites where you can find list of products with low glycemic index. Eat wholegrain bread, fruits, vegetables and cooked meat like chicken or fish. Prepare your meals by yourself and eat 5 meals a day- little portion but regulary. Last meal you shuld eat around 6 or 7 pm. Each body is different, so it is very hard to say when you might loose your weight. I also recommend you making exercies or some sports.

Cutting out sugar is a really good way of loosing weight with PCOS, as we all know it is super difficult to get weight off with PCOS as it seems a slow progress but don't loose hope!!

Yes, that's very difficult, but we have to try. I started to eat more fruits like grapefruit and vegetables. Bread only for breakfast. Last meal around 6 pm.
