PCOS survey, please help me and other sufferers

Posted , 34 users are following.

I would like to continue my research into my main problem with PCOS. I would really appreciate your help if you could answer these questions because I will take them to the doctor as proof that we all live with this everyday of our lives with very little support for the medical profession.

1. Do you feel you have full support from your doctor?

2. What two things are the worst part of your PCOS?

3. Are you taking any medication including the pill?

4. Have your symptoms got worse as you've got older?

5. Do you suffer from panic attacks?

6. Do you suffer with stress/depression?

7. Have you noticed a pattern with questions 5 and 6 where it happens more at a certain part of your cycle? If so, which week/s does this tend to happen?

Please, please help me to help you by completing this survey and maybe together we can force our doctors to take us seriously.

Thanks

Clare

    1. No. I was told to have all my babies before I'm 10 and try and keep active.

    2. Mood swings and excess hair growth (and worrying about fertility)

    3. I have the coil which was so painful for the first 6 months but works wonders now no more 4 month long periods

    4. Coil has stopped the bleeding but my mood swings are loads worse and feeling in a horrible down place a lot of the time

    5. Occasionally when I'm really upset I can't control it

    6. Yes both but only recently

    7. No pattern both random

    1. Not at all. It's a 'deal with it until you want children'

    2. The not knowing how severe it is, fertility wise, and the weight issues.

    3. No, any contraception messes both my cycles and hormones up, which makes my anxiety and depression worse.

    4. I've only known about having PCOS for a year, so I can't say.

    5. Yes. Between 1-4 a day.

    6. Yes. I have done since i was 12.

    7. My anxiety, depression, stress are constant, however they seem to be more erratic around the six week mark, as my periods are every 6-8 weeks.

    Hope this helps! smile xx

I was just diagnosed with pcos, even though i have had symptoms and problems since my very first period. My doctors could never put two and two together. I"ve had two children, and my youngest seemed to have jump started my pcos into way worse. I had many issues throughout both pregnancies, but especially in my youngest child"s. Doctors never took me seriously on the symptoms i was having. I was lucky to recently, through a friend with pcos, to find a dr who specializes in it. I went to her, told her my symptoms, she agreed, ran blood tests, and officially diagnosed me. She was great, listened to me, and took this huge weight off of my shoulders. My worst symptoms so far have been cramping with having cysts(i have 8 at the moment), and migraines. I also hate that im losing my hair, and at 25 have bad acne. As far as the panic attacks go, yes yes yes. I have had bad anxiety since puberty. I never saw it as a symptom of something bigger. My panic attacks seemed to get worse after my second daughter was born. I chalked it up to my car accident causing ptsd, bc they mainly happen while on the interstate. I do have mild depression from time to time, but mostly the anxiety. I have the mirena, so I dont have a period anymore and have never really timed my depression and anxiety. There are health care providers that will listen, you just have to find the one. Look up pcos specialists or specialists in the endocrine system. Write down every symptom you rememeber ever having with how old you were. I ended up writing 7 pages worth of symptoms, and that got  my dr's attention.
