Pcos symptoms help & advice

Okay let's get to the point...

I was diagnosed in 2015...fast forward to now

I'm experiencing a new form of facial acne that is REALLY bad and unattractive. They're more like large cysts than your average white/blackheads...which i have those too. I have noticed the fluid is green/yellow in color and they're super itchy (kinda like a mosquito bite???) I've tried multiple cleansers and medicines but I'm assuming these won't help... I believe it's something inside of my gastro system causing the break outs maybe.

I've not been drinking any caffeine for two going on three months now. Just water and sometimes Sprite. I've also noticed that ice cream makes it so much worse so I quit eating the occasional milkshakes too. This all started about 3 weeks ago. It's really painful for me physically and emotionally.

Also, I have asked my doctor about a full hysterectomy. She very quickly said no "because i may change my mind later." Granted, I am still young (23) but I do know for a fact I don't want to have kids of my own vaginally. With other health conditions i have, I would have to be carefully monitored; I am now also high risk for an ectopic due to having a previous one as well as do fertility treatment to even become pregnant (words from previous OBGYN)... I don't want any of that. I want to feel better asap without having to take all of these medications. I have TRICARE Prime for insurance and in the policy it states a hysterectomy is allowed if deemed medically necessary (which I believe it is. The pain I have and symptoms make it hard for me to even keep a steady job). I don't see how one's opinion that I may change my mind later in life overrules my health and well-being.

I am desperate

*sorry if this post is long and jumbled

If you want to help your skin, give up sugar and dairy. Also limit alcohol. PCOS is usually caused by insulin resistance and a low GI diet is recommended as well as regular exercise.

Having a hysterectomy will put your risk of serious illnesses up, you will give yourself an early menopause, do you really want that? I doubt any doctor would let you have one.

I understand how painful periods and cystic acne can be and I fully understand why you don’t want to use the pill as it isn’t without risks. But speak to a PCOS specialist and you can find out about other options.

    Hey!

I am so sorry that you are going through all of this!! It all sounds like a horrific ordeal! I know how you feel regarding your skin, I had the same issue. I got referred to a dermatologist who put me on medication called ROACCUTANE for 8 months, its was not a fun experience and the medication will take a toll on your mentally and physically but it was the only thing that helped me. But before you consider a route like that, take a really close look at your diet, do some research - pintrest is great its helped me so much. Look into a LOW GI diet which basically eliminates any processed foods, gluten, dairy etc, basically anything that causes inflammation in your body you do not want. Ive also started taking a probiotic in the morning along with quite a heavy vitamin and supplement regime. It is slowly helping but your skin represents what you put into your body so always bare that in mind. If you need any more information please contact me. I have dealt with cystic acne for many years and I have managed to get it under control. Face products that contain any harsh chemicals are a no no, as weird as that sounds but you cant fight fire with fire. They can cause more aggravation so the more natural and simple your skincare regime is the better - I simply wash my face with Luke warm water in the morning and follow that with Dr.Organics tea tree face moisturizer. In the evenings ill either use Cetaphil face cleaner or an organic cleanser and use the same moisturizer as the morning and occasionally ill use the ordinary organic cold pressed rose hip oil. Sudocream on any big cysts over night and I keep my hair and hands away from face as much as possible. Everyones skin is differenct and it takes a while but you will find something that works for you!

wishing you all the best - always here for a chat

Thank you so much! My doctor referred me to a derm so I’ll be going soon but I’ve heard negatives about accutane and the varieties. I’ll definitely take a look on Pinterest and google for diets like those. @ this point, i believe it’s whatever I’m putting into my body.

Does the tea tree oil burn on application? Also, sudocream... never heard of it. Does it work when you put it on overnight? I just got some Cetaphil face lotion yesterday because my skin is so dry on top of everything else going on.

Thank you again for the recommendations! I won’t hesitate to talk to you more!

Im so sorry for the delayed reply I've been away. Sudocream is a nappy rash cream so its super gentle. And as for the tea tree oil I use one that's mixed with a moisturizer so again that's super gentle. Basically I will not put anything irritant on my skin as that causes more inflammation. I use cetaphil face wash and have done ever since I was on Accutane - It really isn't a drug to jump into the side effects are horrific but it works 90% of the time ... do you have instagram? there are loads of pages that show before and afters and there sloads of people you can follow on their journey for tips and tricks on how to cope with the side effects. I would honestly try 6 months of eating clean, basic skincare, and gentle exercise. And yes I apply sudocream to any active spots and leave it on overnight. Also clean pillow case/tshirt on your pillow every night! Massively important!! Hope you are doing ok xxx
